Default Some general information regarding fittings/hoses

Some general information.. Feel free to add some more to this thread.

------------

We use JIC fittings measured in AN. Performance fittings would be made from aluminum, brass. Shiny red/blue fittings are aluminum. Beside performance shops, industrial type places may carry these, plumbing supplies or hydralic supplies

Types of hoses:

Coolant lines are easy to locate, pretty much any autostore will have them

Fuel lines should also be available at automotive stores, should only be used for fuel and not oil lines.

Transmission fluid hoses - i don't think they should be used for anything other than transmission oil
Example: http://www.jcwhitney.com/webap...10101

And last Multi-Purpose hoses can be used for anything including oil lines. Whats important is to make sure they're oil resistant.
Red radiator hoses are multi-purpose, some autopart stores may still sell them. Here's an example: http://www.parker.com/ead/cm2.asp?cmid=3522 . and it should say oil resistant otherwise dont' use.

Most if not all braided type lines are multi-purpose and oil resistant. Double check before purchase if they are oil resistant.

PVC hose. It's not heat-resistant.
