This page is great. Ed, your car NEVER ceases to stop me in my proverbial tracks.

Thank you for rescuing those MK's! As one of my favorite wheels ever I am grateful! So sad kids will say, "Are those B-Bombs?"

Default Lip/wheel fitment question....

I have a pair of SSR MK3 that are 4x100 and some guy has some MK3 lips that are 1" bigger than my current lips and will make my wheels 7.5 but they're are off a 114.3 wheel. Do you think I will be able to use them?? Match etc.,? Not the whole barrels, just the lips.

Thank you!...yeah you. Thanks.

SSR barrels are 2 piece welded...meaning the lip doesnt separate from the inner barrel. If your buddy has wider/lower offset barrels than you, all you would need to do is swap the faces. Bolt pattern doesnt matter.

Sweet. Yeah I'm trying to get the other barrels. I got my 15x7.5 4x100 SSR Reverse Mesh today. It wasn't MK3's, I didn't want to jinx myself, haha. I"m super stoked!

The centers are sandwiched between the lip and barrel on MK3's and the like, so they'd need to be cut apart to swap anyway.

Also, 15" Formula Mesh can be different face sizes to other 15" Formula Mesh, i assume same goes for Reverse/Full Reverse too. Very inconsistent face sizes.

Cut apart? No... They are separated by pounding the face out of the front of the barrel. Please do not cut up your barrels.

Not with the MK series, Captain. My MK1's were welded. I removed all the bolts and there was no chance of removing the faces by pounding on them.

Ok, but these are MK3's they are talking about. I have seen many a set split.

edit: on the MKI's...are you sure they were welded? Could you see the bead or were they just "really stuck"? I have taken apart a ton of wheels and I think SSR's are the biggest pain. They are usually stuck with old JDM crust, heh. I have a padded steel beam and a 5 pound hammer that I have to smash to get the faces off the really crusty wheels.

The funny thing is that the SSR site lists all the MK series wheels as 3-piece, but the MK's def. look 2-piece welded to me. They looked as if the lip and face were one piece that was welded to the barrel. It's sort of visible here. If you look in the hub you can def. see layers, but it isn't apparent the face is removable from the barrel. Is he referring to the MK3 or MK3-S? The MK3-S and MK2-R are a clear multipiece wheel.

Those faces are reverse mounted. You would need to hit the top of the face and remove from the back of the barrel rather than the front.

Russ is right, they are definitely a welded two-piece design. In fact, the bolts are purely cosmetic - they don't hold the face to the barrel.

For the record...I never had MK3's. I actually had SSR REverse Meshies(cool story bro). Anyhow they're 15x7.5 +20's. I did a test fit on my car and they stick out about 1/2 past the fenders, and that's without my car lowered, no camber, etc. I think once I get my car lowered, different tires, and some camber/toe,pump the ol' fenders I should be good to go. I'm not hellaflush, but I'm not hellatrack either, I think I want to be somewhere in the middle lol. I'll post some pics when I get my fitment figured out. Form/function.

My Mk1's are 100% Welded and the bolts just sandwich the centre layers all together. Such a weird design but obviously stronger and you don't get any leaks!

Yeah, all "3 piece" SSR's are welded barrels with a detachable face...pretty much a modular wheel. I wonder if the old MKI's ae welded or all generations are...

Here is a random pic I found of my EX-C short caps...

My thought is that all the MK series wheels are somehow desgnated as a 3-piece wheel, but appear to be a 2-piece welded. Here on the SSR website you notice the "3-piece" designation in the upper right hand side of the page. As Phun said, the bolts are simply cosmetic, or at the least hold the layers of the face/lip together (as Benny said). We all know the MK1 changed the afternarket wheel game (at least in Japan) so we can def. expect some antiquated technology that still holds it's own among forged and MAT technologies.

Edit: My bad...I am referring to MKIIIS, not MKIII. Never seen MKIII's apart. Soddy.

Recent additions. Thanks Fitting for the collection. Not sure those areo covers look good on my car. Also got a so cal barnyard find on super fins. They were so dirty I almost didn't get them. Took like a bottle of cleaner. Did a quick hand polish and starting to look better. spare Rings were extra dirty. Guessing at least 10 years of dust on them.

Nothing that exciting but while my Integra is out getting the body/chassis work done I decided to pull in my GF's EF project and install the modified 4x114.3 suspension. Finally the MK1's could go on and check for fitment issues. I'm happy I did as they needed a spacer to clear the ITR caliper. I had some spare 8mm spacers and they did the trick for the front. I'll see if I can get away with less but here are the pics.

Please keep in mind the wheels are as unfinished as the car . . . and NO, the headlights are NOT staying.

This is with the 8mm spacer installed so if I can't get away with less she's going to have to run some decent negative camber.
