N20 Bangs upon use. help
Good afternoon Folks,
I'll start with the specs:
90 Acura Integra
LS-Vtec swap. B18A bottom, B16A top
Forged rods, high compression weisco pistons (11.5:1 compression)
Integra Type R Cams
Header, exhaust, cold air intake
MSD Ignition, MSD Window Switch
B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator/Guage
NGK Plugs (two stages colder than oem spec)
Timming retarded two degrees
(other things I'm probably forgetting).
Zex Dry nitrous setup (bottle heater, bottle opener, guage, etc). 55hp shot
My problem right now is that almost everytime, without fail, when I step on the gas and my rpms are in the window and nitrous kicks on after a couple seconds a loud bang is heard and (from a recent cruise a friend noticed) a puff of black out my exhaust. For the moment I am no longer using the nitrous until I can sort out this problem. Once the bang sound is heard there is definite lag in the engine and if the pedal stays pressed it bangs again. I have checked and re-checked and all my hoses, wires, etc are setup correctly and still attached. Anyone had this problem or know the solution?
Possibly timming still? Looking at picking up the MSD ignition that will automatically switch my timming from 0 to -2 or -4 degrees which might solve the problem.
Thoughts? help?

It is almost as if you are backfiring. When you hit WOT, do you feel the added horsepower of the nitrous?... or is there just a bang sound?

Thanks for the reply. I do feel the kick of the extra horses and then after a second or two.. bang.. and black smoke out the exhaust. Definitely has a backfiring kinda sound. (no flame though ).

Could be detonating. Have you checked your timing, are you using the right plugs, have you replaced your 02 sensor recently? Maybe get ahold of a wideband 02 and check and see if your leaning to hell and detonating. This could possibly destroy your engine. - Darrell

Engine is a complete rebuild. Less than 10,000kms since I got it rebuilt. Called NGK when I did the swap and got their advice on the plug. Matched up with the recommendation of two stages colder than OEM. 02 sensors are both brand new.
Thanks for the imput. Gonna troubleshoot it some more. bigger injectors, new msd ignition, hondata. Hopefully that will solve it.
