Removal of distributor.
I need to replace my distributor o-ring, since I suspect the small oil leak coming from that general area due to the build-up of oil only in that confined space. Can I remove the distributor without moving my timing any? As in unplug connections to the distributor, ignition wires, then unbolt and pull out?
I have a Helms manual online, but can't seem to find the page. If someone wants to give me the page, then maybe I can be able to find it.
Thanks.

What i do to keep my timing is get a nail or something sharp and mark a straight line across the distributor and the top mounting hole and then i take it off. Then when i put it back on i put the lines together again and good to go.
Also remember to look at the marking when you take it out so you could put it back in right.

I see.
Do I need to disassemble the internals of the distributor to remove it or just the 3 bolts that hold it in and off it goes?

make sure you know the order of the plug wires on the distributor you dont want to mess up your firing order. Its a very easy thing to change.

Re: Removal of distributor. (slowferio)
What exactly are you doing? Just replacing the O ring right?
Heres how you do it:
Get something sharp and mark your line.
Unscrew the 3 bolts holding your dist. in (i usually go the one to the firewall, one closes to you, and top one last)
Slowly pull the distributor out (if you never did it before wiggle it)
Inspect the dist. fins for cracks, or anything broken, and while your at it look at the marking line and see where its at.
Next take off the old O ring (if there is one) and slip the new one on.
Put the distributor back in with the marking line where it was at.
Now if you forget about the marking line then your going to have trouble putting the dist. in but no worries. If you cant get it in the first time (everything lined up right) take the dist. out again and flip the fins 180 degrees. And try again.
Leave it connected, leave the plugs in, only other thing i might do is disconnect the batt., but no real reason to do that. Its very simple.

Re: (Dimi)
I would go with Honda because they have the right measurements, but if you have the measurements im pretty sure any O ring would do.
It shouldnt be more then 2 bucks through Honda so i would just go there.
