Default Throwing a code: p0505 for 1998 Honda Accord 4 dr EX.

Okay, I am throwing a code P0505. All my wiring is good, I just changed my IAC, and I checked for a vacuum leak, no leak. Are there any suggestions to solve this problem. Thank you very much for all your help.

A 505 code, you will usually find a bad IAC or dirty throttle blade not closing all the way,try cleaning the throttle plate

What was it? Dirty ports on the throttle body?

Please tell us all you did to get rd of the P0505. also, if you could describe the symptoms, we would all be very knowledgable of them in the future.

I know this is an old string and there is alot of information on PO505 but I haven't found anything with my symptoms. '99 Accord V6, runs fine on start up when it warms up between 2500 & 3500 rpms cuts out (coincides with switching to closed loop). Everything has tested fine but for ***** & grins I have replaced the IAC, Coolant temp sensor, TPS, and pcv valve with no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.

my 98 ex was throwing code
my idle would jump to About 2000 down to 1000 over and over. i took of air filter assembley and covered it to check for vacuum leaks and covered the port leading to iacv to see if the probably lied with the iacv. with engine at idle ( idle still jumping around) cover the port inside tb opening and see if idle drops down to normal. if so like in my case replacing the iacv fixed the problem and also cleaned out the tb since i had it off. was pretty simple

The p0505 was fixed putting a second IAC on (chance you take with aftermarket parts). I found the surging to be different problem all together 02S1 (again it wasn't surging at idle only on acceleration)

A lot of times a bad iacv will test bad for ohms when it's bad. I'm not 100 percent if the test for most accord iacv's are the same as yours but you can try testing it for ohms across the pins after disconnecting the connector. It should, I believe, be between 8-15, likely 12 ohms if good.

Ok I might need to check the ohms tomorrow in it. Code has came on since I cleaned it but car feels like the pcv is not working properly but I just replaced it yesterday when I get to 3k rpm it just slow down even though I am flooring the pedal then at 4k just picks up fast. That's the one thing I wanted to mention. Any help or suggestion I will appreciate it a lot. This thing has been driving me crazy lol. But ill check the ohms tomorrow ill let you know.

When you clean an iacv it's imperative that you don't spray anything chemical inside as it can easile damage the inner seals. Just cleaning the outer metal filter is sufficient but I'm not sure if the 6th gens have the outer filter. I believe you may have damaged it already.

If I'm going to spray anything inside I will only spray water.

Yea I cleaned the screen with the brake cleaner then wiped it with the rag but I replaced it with a different used one and its still doing the same thing. To check the ohms do I test the wire or the iacv?

You know what, I just realized you have a 2000 civic. I'm actually not sure what kind of iacv it has and how to test it. You might get more help in the civic forum. Sorry about that.

However, you should have battery power at the yellow/black wire going to the iacv with the ignition on.

I would think if you have power and the other two wires are not loose or anything, the problem is likely the iacv.

I have the similar problems, idle aroun 1500, rev up and bouncing rpm from 1800-2100 rpm until i completely gun it. code p0505 is present and i already cleaned iacv and replaced it!! heard of a re-learn procedure, but then found out that my coolant fan isn't working!!

Can an inop radiator fan cause idle air control system failure? or iacv to not wrk properly?
