Default how to warm up drag radials?... in the waterbox or out

i was wondering how you warm up drag radials. i was at the track this past weekend and i saw some people do it two different ways. some people drove through the waterbox until the front tires are just past the water and then did a burnout and some people drove into the waterbox and left the front tires in the waterbox and then did a burnout there. so i was wondering why the difference? is it because they were just ignorant? or is there a good reason to do it in the water and a good reason do it past the water? which way do you do it? thanks.

They should be heated up like slicks, not in the water box. Doing a burn out in the water is pointless.

Pretty much any tire with a tread should avoid the water, all it does is carry it to the starting line, you should always do the burnout just past the water box, if you do a burnout in the water all it does is spray water all over the inner fenderwells and it drips back down on the tires causing a wet spot and loss of traction.

I go through the water box and just let the track guys tell me when to stop. It's usually right at the end of the water box and I just burnout until it pulls me out and I keep it going as long as I can. I pulled a 2.0 60 foot with my nitto 555r drag radilas my 2nd time at the track, so it seems to work well doing it that way.

I was able to pull a 1.7 on the fwd and a 1.5 on the rwd. both tire size was 225*50*15 BFG. I hear the new MT et street are great too.

I've been able to get better than a 2.2, I believe it's because of my rims. I have 17" Ro_ja formula 5's that weigh in at 14lbs but being 17" the weight of the rim and more importantly the weight of the tire is farther away from the center. I've tried doing all sorts of launching but I'm unable to get close to 2.0?

i have pulled 2.0 on 17s that weighed more like 19 lbs each, they were 38 lbs with tire.

drive through the water box then do a burn out right on the other side of the box
this way you get you tire's wet enuff to do the burn out yet they are not holding water in the tred of the tire.

if you do a burn out in the water then stop in the water and pull forward to the line.
you are holding water so as your staging the water is running out of the treds to the track surface causing you to do a burn out all over again.

if you really get into it you will find that your perfect tire temp. is 180 deg. no hotter no colder

as long as you have a 180 deg. tire that is dry you should launch perfect every time

I wonder what it is then, my turbo spools late and it's a really short geared tranny so I dont get much boost in first. I'm getting a GSR trans so maybe with the longer gears it could actually help.
