anything i order never comes quick enough
even this stuff i ordered wednesday from newegg, shipped yesterday, also arriving last night at the facility that ships the trucks to drop stuff off at my door, right now its en route to my house. im leaving for work at 11-6 and i hate thinking it is sitting at my door unattended or even being looked at by whoever is at my house today without me being there. plus my order came in 2 boxes from 2 places, memphis and jersey, the stuff from jersey is taking its sweet little time. i wish Fedex had GPS tracking devices along with the tracking numbers of the stuff so you can really tell when its gonna be here, not that its going to speed up the process, i will be able to know to wait an extra 5min or so if i knew it was going to be here in that time. ![]() just my .02 discuss.

Providing the GPS location of your package (IE en-route, on the truck) would not only be a big waste of resources (providing that content to users online), but it's a potential security issue.
Suppose I order a few rifles to be delivered by UPS. Bad guy hacks my account and knows I have rifles coming. Then, all he has to do is find the truck and he's got my guns. As far as the current systems are, UPS > FedEx. I've signed for a UPS package before and then run back to the computer. By the time I hit refresh on the tracking page, status shows delivered

well bad guy can hack into accounts now and figure out where stuff is going to be but without the GPS he just has to camp out a few hours longer
i have no complaints with this order from fedex, its going pretty fast. in the past i bought a honda 250r racing 4wheeler frame from an individual who shipped it ups by sticking the shipping label on the frame itself and sending it bare, and the ups guy "tried" to b*tch at me about it edit: plus the UPS guys are like clockwork around here i give them that, my dad has stopped them in town a few times getting things from them i have ordered what kind of security is that?

GPS tracking will probably be the future of freight forwarding.
Only advice i can offer you is to get the shipper to tell UPS that a signature is required at the destination..,.that way the UPS dude won't leave it at your doorstep if you're not home. He'll take it back to his UPS hub in your area and leave it there. You could go there and pick it up before they close. And i think they close late. Or just ship to work, that's what i do. I didn't read all your post to find out if you work or not

Well..get ready for open top delivery trucks then...because GPS won't get **** for a signal if it's inside the truck, on the package. At most they could put it on the truck.

RFID on the package with a reader on the truck would probably take care of that.

UPS doesnt even offer STANDARD tracking on ground shipments, and niether does USPS.
Fedex is the ONLY service that has it INCLUDED in the same price on ALL their shipping methods. to Fedex to everything else.

UPS tracking info (at least what is available to the consumer on the website) is updated far more often than FedEx (at least FedEx ground, whoever they used to be).

Every time I take something to send to UPS Ground they say they dont issue tracking #s for Ground packages. Its dealing specifically with ground.
All I care about personally is something that says it was shipped, because I sell a lot of parts on this board. I always ship Fedex, theyre nicer, faster, cheaper and have ground tracking #s. |

UPS ground should give you a tracking number. Airborne express also issues tracking numbers.
At the post office for a few cents or dollars you can insure any package or parcel. When you insure a package, it gets a tracking number. |

USPS doesn't offer any tracking. They offer Delivery Confirmation. All it does it tell you that it was delivered or not and the package usually is delivered 2-3 days before it even shows up in the system. They dont have any real time tracking at all.

I took a computer to ship from a mailbox etc and they wanted $27 for ground shipping and insisted I let them repackage it for me. I said sure, whatever. They took my boxed up computer and but into a bigger box with peanuts and all that jazz and then rang me up for damn near $60
I ripped the box open and took my **** out, walked over to a Office Max and sent the computer in my packaging for only $16 for UPS Ground. Fuck Mailbox Etc. So anyway, when that UPS store jazz opened up I though that UPS bought mailbox etc. Well apparently its more like they went to bed with Mailbox etc because UPS stores are still mailbox etc and still practice the same deceptive techniques.

Tracking Number =Air Way Bill Number Every package you send via UPS, USPS, Fed-Ex, Airborne Express.....etc has an Airway Bill Number. It doesn't matter what service you use...ground, 2nd day air.etc. If your "Standard" service does not come with a tracking number (it should) just call up the customer service lines and ask them for the AWB. They can tell by looking up the shipment date, origin, destination, etc (all information you will know). If you properly identify yourself as the shipper or consignee (the receiver) they will give you the AWB. You can then use that to track your shipment online.

So back to the store, ask them to pull your invoice, and give you the tracking number off of it.
