Reliability (B18C or H22A)???

Which engine has proven to be more reliable over the years, (less problematic),
the H22A Lude engine or a B18C GSR engine?

Since we are on the subject, which car is more reliable as a whole, the GSR (94+) or a Lude (97+)?

i would say it depends on how you drive. how high u rev? how hard u drive? also any mods?

If both motors are left stock, not driven too hard, and maintained properly they can last a long time.

You can search on this and you will see a lot of different opinions about this. Basically it depends on how the motor was taken care off....

They are both Honda motors so there you go... Honda makes both of them reliable.

If you are thinking about integra vs prelude, well it is up to you. What car you like more? As far as performance, you know the numbers.. again what are you looking for?

If you are thinking about a swap, on what car?

On 92-95 a lot of people in here have done the h22a swap. Not as easy to do as a b18c1 but once done right and working will give you great performance.

The reason why I would stay away a h22a swap into a 92-95 civic is the nature of the h22a block. Its cylinder walls are not the same with other b series motors. Also it is 80 pounds heavier which is not alot but still heavier...

If you can afford to wait, buy an old short/block and rebuild it yourself. This is really the only way you will know it will be reliable for a long *** time.... ( if done right.. no short cuts to save money)

If one was to hit vtec everyday with the motor and everyday of red line, which motor would hold up the longest with less problems and why (if you know).
Also some guys swap the b18 in civics vs. the h22, why is this the case? I know that if I were to swap a motor into a civic or a non vtec teg, I'd go with the h22 due to the bigger displacement.

WHat is your logic on this guys?

H22s are just weird motors. I'd go B series.
