Icon2 2001 Honda Accord F18B, interference engine or not?

I have a 2001 Honda Accord (Japan) with F18B engine. How do I know whether my engine is an interference engine or a non-interference one? Tried searching on the web but didn't find any results.

Ok. So I was driving on the motorway at 120kmh when the engine shut off and I pulled off to the side. The car won't start; the timing belt had broke. I'm getting it installed today IA. What are the chances that the engine will start with no damage after installing the new belt? I was just getting worried

My mechanic said there was need to worry if it had been a Diesel engine but he said it is unlikely to cause damage to a petrol one and it will be fine after installing replacement belt. What do you think about this? Help would be appreciated

Sorry but it's almost a sure thing there will be damage. There are instances when there is luckily isn't but you will need to have a compression test done after the timing belt is done to determine what damage, if any, is done.

Ran a compression test, 2 cylinders have ok compression, 1 gave less reading and 1 gave zero.

Unfortunately it's time for a head rebuild.

You mean cylinder head? And how much exactly should it cost. It's a 4cyl vtec engine.

Pull the head, and estimate the damage done. If pistons suffered too, maybe it's time for a swap

Idk how much a head rebuild costs but I got a remade head off ebay for like 250 USD shipped, it was for a f22b1. It's still running strong in my 97 CL. If you're lucky you may have only bent some valves with no damage to the pistons and should probably just get those done.

Yeah, just pull the head, at the very least you need to have the head rebuilt. When you pull the head you can see if the pistons are damaged or not.

"Holmes" you might want to re-think that post (#2).....too late and a cold one will do that.

Thankyou everyone for the info. Luckily only 6 valves got damaged and nothing else and got them replaced, the mechanics also cleaned the head and replaced the timing and tensioner belt. Car runs better than ever !
