Del Sol Dome Light...
95 Del Sol S Auto
I'm having a problem with my dome light not turning on when I open my doors. Both doors. If I were to manually turn it on then it works. I'm not sure what's going on. Can anyone help? What should i check?

Re: Del Sol Dome Light...
do they have an indicator on the dash? I dont know if they changed it, but Honda used to like to run each door switch wire into the module on the dash that included the indicator, they were switched by transistors in the module, not the actual door switch. The older ones sometimes they just quit. The fact that it comes on indicates the fuse is ok. the switch in the dome light selects either the ground being provides by the door switches or module, or body ground. You should use an actual 12 volt test light, not a meter, to see if connecting it to the wire that is grounded when the door is open, and 12 volts makes it light up. this will rule out the switch in the dome light itself. I say use a test light, because sometimes a bad connection in the circuit, can flow enough current to make the meter indicate continuity, yet not be able to flow enough current to make the light come on

did you just change the radio? Honda puts the keyless entry in the factory radio, which also happens to control the dome light, on my 97, we went to change the radio, and discovered the factory radio stuffed behind the dash, when I unplugged it, the dome light quit working, All I ended up having to do was jumper two wires together to make it work right again, if it has keyless entry it might have quit

i didnt know my civic had keyless entry, no key fob nothing, but it was still built into the factory radio. I dont have a diagram in front of me, but the dome light was routed through the radio. because the keyless entry was part of the radio

I looked it up and it says 96-98 civics, it's possible if yours is an early production 96 and sold in 95, it could have it, if it does, there are only two wires that need to be jumped together and the dome light will work,

they never mention it, but the dome light wire goes through the keyless entry module so it can turn on the light when you unlock the doors
