98 Accord Auto EX (Wont Start, HELP)
I swapped out a motor that blew a head gasket out of a 98 honda accord ex with a motor I purchase from a jap engine importer. Before I dropped in the new engine, I replaced the water pump, timing belt, rear main and front seal, new ngk spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil filter, and oil. The new motor didn't have the engine temperature sending unit on so I pulled it off the old motor.
After everything was said and done, the car won't start. After I triple checked everything, I can not figure out why.
While wiring up the car, I noticed that a green sensor on the transmission and the green connecter on the wire harness didn't match up. Which is weird because I remember unplugging it before the old engine was pulled out and I am using the same transmission and wire harness. Can someone identify this sensor and tell me if it can prevent the car from running? (Disregard the sound in the video, that's another car/problem in of itself)
Also, there is a another black connector that I could not find where it plugs into. It looks like an IAT sensor connector that is usually on the tube that connects the air box and throttle body, but there is no sensor there.

Re: 98 Accord Auto EX (Wont Start, HELP)
Should I try using the old crank position sensor from the old motor or it shouldn't matter?
Also, I am using the ecu that came with the car

Did you by chance take any pictures? Something isnt wired right. You may have crossed up something. Look at old engine...make sure everything is the same as new engine. That green one I think goes to the ECT sensor in teh tstat housing. theres a black two wire one, undernear the dizzy...thats another temp switch(I think for the cooling fans)
Take pictures, zoomed out a little, so I can see it relative to the engine. Also, look at wire color, that will tell you what is wrat...get a good wiring diagram, with wire colors.

I finally got a chance to look at the car again today (Im in graduate school in Orlando but live 3 hours south). Double check the wires and everything seems to be in there correct location. The green plug on the transmission is still an issue. There is no connector on the wire harness that matches that plug.
The green plug on the wire harness is paired with the sensor on the thermostat house and the distributor plug. Can some confirm what the green plug on the wire harness is for?
The other plug on the wire harness (black/light blue) is paired with the map sensor and TPS. There is nowhere it plugs up to as well. I think its an air temperature sensor plug, but the sensor is not there.
It's getting fuel and the it's sparking, but I can't figure out what the problem is for the life of me. Here is a video of the car trying to start up.

Just me but first I think you have the map and tps plugs switched.
MAP wires - YEL/RED .. GRN/WHT .. RED/GRN
TPS wires - GRN/BLK .. RED/BLK .. YEL/BLU
Having those switch usually will let the car run at idle but will die if you press the gas. In the last pic I can see the map sensor and it looks like the wires are GRN...RED... and something?

Ok, next it would be nice to know the wire colors going into the plugs you "can't find a home for".
Example, the gray connector you have on the t-stat housing I think it belongs to the ECT sensor - two wire sensor on the end of the head under the dist....but again I can't pick out the wire colors good enough to be sure.

Re: 98 Accord Auto EX (Wont Start, HELP)
In the 98, there was still two switches on the end of the head. A single pin switch for the gauge and a two pin switch for the computer (ECT).
BTW - I'm not kidding about the MAP and TPS being switched.

Re: 98 Accord Auto EX (Wont Start, HELP)
From the picture, my guess is that the connectors for the radiator fan switch and the VTEC oil pressure switch were cut and spliced back in; but, inadvertently switched.
For the picture, one wire for the green connector is Blu/Blk, if the other wire is Brn/Blk, then the wiring is for the VTEC oil pressure switch.

Thanks "tech" - that didn't look correct and I was trying to piece it together.
I know you don't care or want anything to do with me but like I said I've been looking at different things trying to figure out that cooling fan switch - never noticed/thought about the connectors being spliced onto the wrong wires
