98-01 Coupe Trunk Conversion to 94-97
Hi honda-tech. I recently got my '01 gsr back on the road, and needless to say, the electronic actuator for the trunk release is not functioning. Not only do I not want to bother with buying a new one from Acura, I don't like the setup at all. I'm sure many of you can relate to having no other option for opening the trunk than putting your key in the lock on our 98+ cars.... I've seen similar threads to this one requesting information regarding a trunk conversion to 94-97. The thread always begins with an argument over whether there is a difference between the trunks at all...... SO, with that said, in the coming weeks as time permits I'd like to embark on a quest to convert my trunk to 94-97. I can deal with the slider button on the trunk lid later.
* What I need from you guys is a picture of the inside of the trunk of a 94-97 car. All I need to know is whether the metal is stamped the same.... I don't see why it wouldn't be... If it is, I'll plan a trip to a local junkyard, yank EVERYTHING related out of a 94-97 car, and post pics along the way.
*I apologize for the quality of these pictures. (and for the junk in my trunk!) The car is parked in a parking deck of sorts.

I wanted to do this as well but never got around to it. Here's a picture of a 94-97 (I believe) I found on google images.
The part numbers are different, but I think it might just be because there is an extra hole here and there for the gold bracket.

Ur awesome donut. I had no luck searching google images.... O well. Being at work makes things difficult at times. That is an odd bolt difference on the bottom... Other than the bottom bolt hole, I don't see any big issues. I can drill another hole if necessary. I'll pull the metal rod from keyhole to hinge off donor car as well. This shouldn't be too tough to accomplish. Based on spot welded pieces I see on the 98+ vs the 94-97... it's safe to say that going from electronic actuation to cable acutuation will be a much simpler task than vice versa. ....cmon now, wat fool would do such a thing?

Excuse my mess... The bolt holes are all totally different. Even the top two are spaced slightly off from each other. But, the good news is, your 98+ key tumbler rod fits perfectly to the 94 97 hinge.

Definitely different, maybe if you drill the spot welds for that "t-bracket", and replace it with an older one.
But you've already found that out with the last post, I had to do the same with my car.
