Power steering rack has massive leak but I don't know who makes a good replacement. I don't want to put in a crappy one that's gonna go out in a year.

If I can't find rebuild parts for it than that is when I go pick a rack up from advance auto or autozone, or whoever has it available for cheap. Where is it leaking?

unless you like giving Honda lots of your money, aftermarket oem is where its at. they're mostly made by a handful of manufacturers and then have "brand whatever" stickers slapped on them. shop rockauto.com or advance auto parts. advance always has $40 off $100 coupon codes online.

i think quaife makes one. im not sure im spelling that correctly. anyway from what I saw In a magazine ad they make one that has a higher ratio steering gear so it will turn lock to lock with fewer turns of the wheel. im also quite sure you just want to get back on the road... you can get a reman with a crap warranty or oem with a good warranty. up to you

The thing is I'm not even sure if he's confirmed that the rack is leaking at one of the seals, or its just leaking through the inner tie rods, or grease being flung around with a busted outer tie rod, power steering hoses leaking.

It is leaking from the inner tie rod boot on drivers side and it looks like there is another leak but it's hard to tell from where. O'reily sells a Duralast one, not sure if that's any good or not.

^ I think it means he regrets looking at the post previous to his neat little gif of ed Norton looking disappointed at what he just saw.
the boot is not the issue. get a new/good used rack, outfit it with new boots if you gotta. get new axles.... both of them....

I suggest you clean it up and locate the second leak, prepare yourself to replace the inner AND out tie rod PLUS BOTH boots. Prepare to take the car to the alignment shop.

I said Napa has decent parts and OP goes and says autozone to which he doesnt know the quality (facepalm)
When I did my rack, I measured the rods end to end to get it close. Its a pain in the *** to swap them (maybe it was just me cause im tall) as getting to the rag joint is a pain in the ***.

Check out "Detroit axle"
http://detroitaxle.com/?s=Part%20Fin...&vm=314&pt=299
Just put in one of their remanufactured steering racks in my moms Buick Park Avenue.
Lifetime warranty. All new seals, gaskets, bla bla bla.
Comes with inner tie rods, boots, ets. all you need to do is transfer the outer tie rods or get new ones. I paid a little over 100 shipped (search through amazon, they actually listed it cheaper than Detroit Axle). Its been 2 weeks now and its dry as a bone.

If I still had my em1 I'd switch out the subframe to a DC2 and use the type r rack and pinion. Why would I go and do all that work? Because I actually do have a type r subframe laying around, hehehe.
