Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
it was a consideration...cause i've heard from tons of people about doing it both ways break the motor N/A then boost or just do all at once. So i asked my tuner he told me to just break everything in since the bottom end was rebuilt but still using mainly stock parts to make sure the rings and bearings seat well. My buddy who helped me build the motor also felt more comfortable putting like a 1,000 miles on the motor before we throw the boost on. So that's why i'm doing it that way.

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
Update...still breaking in the motor, but big news is i don't think i'll be making it out this year . There is still just so much i got to do, and so little time. So i've pretty much got the mind set to enjoy these last two events (fall nats @e-town, and WCF @ MIR) i'll be attending as a spectator and completely finish the turbo set-up, work the bugs, and get a tune before spring time and be out for the first event (at this point i don't know what that will be) but definitely hoping to have the car dialed in by the Spring IREV event. My main thing is i haven't put myself in debt at all paying for my parts or building this car and at this point in time only way to finish i would have to. Well i don't want to so i'm going to keep taking my time, if that's one thing i've learned so far, building a car takes time!
as a team we have a few cars in the works that should be coming out soon too. A white G35 who should be running this year at WCF. And we're also building a F2B EK on nitrous (street car), and in the works of building a full out H2B all-motor EG. It's all getting to exciting for me, i love doing this stuff, but i have to give a huge thanks to my friends and team who make it exciting and fun day in and day out. Stay tuned!

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
basically got all my fuel **** to run, just need to fuel filters. Was told that's best since im running FTW E85.
and had a few shirts made so me and my guys could wear at WCF. check em' out!
as of right now...the car is just sitting. I'm probably gonna do a few things like leak down and compression test since i've put a few 100 miles on the motor. Then battery is getting pulled and she's being put away til the weather gets nice again. Working on getting the rest of the stuff i need to have it ready for the spring next year (hopefully). See how things pan out but figured i'd give you guys a quick update...she's still in the works! Hoping to see the track sometime next year :fingers crossed:

Rods are the same regardless of year. 92-97 are small main 98 has mixed small and big depending on how early or late 98 they were made. 99+ is all big main. That's h22 bearing wise.
The f22 were all small main IIRC. The h23 crank is all small main other than the H23a. All share the same rod size

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
about to put together a new f-series turbo project...i picked up the motor last night which was a trip. Got the motor and everything for 80 bucks. As far as i can tell everything looks in good shape it's only missing the fuel rail and injectors but that's no biggie considering I'm going to have to run bigger injectors anyway. Dude told me it was running when it came out and had about 140,XXX. Which doesnt seem like that'll be a big deal since im ripping it apart anyway. So i'll go ahead and list the parts and plans of what i want to get done.
F22A4 SOHC 2.2L
-H23 trans with Quaife LSD
-Competition clutch (Stage 5)
-Evolution 8.9lb aluminum flywheel
-Bisimoto Stage 1.2 Turbo Web camshaft
-AEM Tru-Time cam gear
-Head Hot tanked & resurfaced
-Bisimoto 85mm Head gasket
-Bismoto Oversized valve springs
-Bisimoto Valves (over 2mm Intake over 1mm Exhaust)
-KMS bronze 5.5mm valve guides and seals
-Kaizenspeed Balance shaft eliminator
-ARP H23 Head studs
-Garrett Turbo GTX3071R
-Vibrant Intercooler & custom piping
-Mishimoto Triple core Civic radiator
-FCS Feed/Return Oil line kit
-Golden Eagle Oil sandwhich plate
-Sheepey Built Top Mount turbo manifold
-Tial 38mm wastegate
-Tial BOV
-Block hot tanked and honed
-ATI street damper
-PWJDM EGR block-off
-FTW Race Gas (E85)
-RCI 5 gallon fuel cell
-AEM Fuel Rail
-AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
-Injector Dynamics 1000cc Injectors
-Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump
-Aeromotive Fuel Filters x2
-Nippon OEM Pistons and rings
-H23 Intake Manifold
-Blacktrax IM spacer
-Professional Products 68mm TB
-Samco Hoses
-Innovative 95A mounts
(and anything else i find along the way that needs to be replaced will be)
this just a small list of the parts i got on my mind now there's still alot of other things i know im getting just need to make certain choices which brands and which direction im going to take, I'm doing all the work myself with help from a few buddies besides the machining (NORPA), hoping to have it running in a couple months and will def keep you guys posted. I see all these guys running big boost F22's in the accord forums i'd love to get one going for the Preludes out there. Hoping to reach a goal of 12 seconds or faster.
**I've since changed my goals and i find them very reasonable with what im doing now compared to when i first started this build. My goal now is to hit 10's which i think would be massive for the F22 in a Prelude as far as i know i'm the only one doing it and i won't give up on the F-series til i do...i've already been called stupid, told it's a waste of time, car is to heavy, SOHC don't work. That's fine, It's just fueled my fire that much more to go out there and prove a point. Anything can be achieved as long as you put the time, brain and money into it. For me this build is to have fun....and at the end of the day when the car sees the track that's what it will be about the all that hardwork we've put into this will be about having fun on the track with my loyal group of friends apart of my race team who have stuck by me this whole build. I didn't do this build for anyone esle i did it for myself (hence why the title says 'for anyone who cares'), but now i've kinda put it in the back of my mind to prove the naysayers wrong and have fun doing it! Quest to 10's here we come!!!

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
haha don't mind my cat apparently he thinks boxes are chew toys lol
So it's been a little while, and honestly haven't been doing much to the car lately but finally i've pretty much ordered the rest of the stuff i need to get the car going and racing. Only few pieces im missing are the IC piping and a bov...i need to install all the stuff i got right now so i can mock up how i want the piping to run and to test my vacuum so i know what BOV i'm ordering...but she is literally 90% done. I'm getting pretty damn excited should only be a few weeks now until she's ready to hit the dyno rollers

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
another quick update...been busting my ***, got the Hondata installed, mounted the turbo and the sheepey manifold and my MVR wastergate. I have Sheepey working on my wastegate and turbo uppipes right now. Working on mounting the entire fuel system i don't have any pics of that just yet but it's getting there, ran my oil feed line and checked the oil pressure to the turbo. All is good, still working on it should have everything good to go in the next couple weeks. I'll take pics of the rail, injectors, fuel cell etc in a few days! thanks for checking it out, getting real excited..should have my slicks mounted in the next few days as well. I also ordered an ESP traction bar w/ torque mount he said i should have by october...if all goes as planned i should FINALLY have this car on the track by Fall Nats in E-Town. Still got like a day or two of wiring left to do so we'll see...really making a push to have this car out by the end of this season!

Not to be a debbie downer, but why are you staying cast piston/rod after putting soooo much money into nice parts for this build? My tuner has done a handful of stock block F22's at ~400whp, but they're all junk yard builds for circle track racing. You seem to have the setup for a 600+whp car, but I don't see those internals being reliable for anything beyond low 300's, if that.

The point of those cars is to last one or two races before it blows up, then swap the short block with another $150 block from the scrap yard and do it all over again. Yes, the power can be made from those stock blocks for a short period of time, but I imagine you're expecting a bit less volatility and more longevity than that from your build.

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
Every setup is different though. I'm more familiar with F23's than the F22. I don't think the F22 rods are as fragile as the F23. I'm not sure if the ring lands are any stronger on the F22, but they're the first thing to go on the F23's. Even your chassis differs from my experience. I played the guinea pig with ESP's traction bar for my chassis and it ended up breaking my box frames on my car. I've since gone back to a stock subframe with urethane strut bushings and had better results than I experienced with the traction bar before it broke.
Either way, I'll be watching this closely for the results and wishing you luck along the way.

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
a circle track car takes a hell of a lot more abuse...i would think, not my expertise. But I do want longevity but at the same time my whole goal for this first build was to see what i can do on a stock block, i've always had the mind set if it blows it blows. I've put enough money into everything else a blown block won't be an issue at that point i'll rebuild and go from there but time will tell. I've done everything step by step looked over everything and looked over it again. So i want it to hold but if that's the case i will go back to the drawing board. But i don't see any reason i can't make 500~ on a stock block and at least be able to go to a few events.

Re: F22A4 Turbo Build (for anyone who cares lol)
Got a ton done this weekend, got everything mounted up...ran all my new fuel lines. And was able to finally fire it up. I'm pretty much 95% done i got a few small things i got to button up. Like the o-rings on my fuel pump were bad so it's leaking from the face plate. Small issue i'll get it worked out. But just waiting on my up-pipes from sheepey and get this thing tuned in the next few weeks and i should be ready for WCF in MD this year. Pretty damn excited it's been such a long time coming and finally seeing it all being put together puts a damn big smile on my face
