'93 Civic w/ B18b swap. Fuel pump not priming right away, good main relay (solved)
Greetings everyone.
So I have an interesting problem that I've not been able to figure out.
First the car info. It's a '93 Civic EX with a '94 B18b, all stock except for a Greddy header and a B16a transmission. No CEL codes are showing up at this time.
Now on to the problem.
With the key in the 'ON' position the fuel pump does not prime, the main relay does not flip, the car does not start. Now here's the interesting part.
The process does eventually happen but it takes time, usually around 20 minutes on a normal day, 20-45 minutes on a humid or wet day, and during the cold/dry
months of winter its usually almost a regular start up. Additionally, the longer it sits, the longer it takes to start. For instance, in the morning or after
work it usually takes 20-45 minutes but if I just run to the store or get gas and the car is sitting for 5-15 minutes the start up process is usually between
1-3 minutes, again depending on how long it was sitting.
Things to note are:
-The main relay is not the problem. I bought three main relays that are all good and the problem is still consistent between all of them.
-The ECU is a PR4 which is from the earlier Inegras, not sure if this could cause a problem or not, or if the ECU is the problem and just showing it's age.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to read this.

The starter and all the other junk in the car tries to work when you put the key in? If it doesn't it could be something dumb simple like the key cylinder.
I think you're gonna end up needing a multimeter to measure voltages of stuff sounds like an annoying electrical problem to me.

Indeed, the electronics and everything work. The car will crank but doesn't turn over because there is no fuel.

Damn bro that sucks, I think you should start by looking at wiring diagram and see which wires control the fueling system. Visually inspect em and or use a miltimeter to measure voltages at like the fuel pump and the main relay and the wiring at the ECU. See how far the electricity gets and narrow down wtf is wrong with your car.

Thank you Hondapartshero, very helpful stuff. My only question for now is, do you happen to have 11-33?

Try to borrow a known good ECU.
I know on the P28 ECU humidity effects the capacitors especially C14 and the fuel pump won't prime and the car won't start. This becomes a intermittent problem and on rainy days it's worse. Sounds like your intermittent problem where weather makes a difference.
Good luck.

Updating to let everyone know the issue is solved.
It turned out to be a bad ECU. I bought another one from Phearable and the car is performing better than ever.
Thanks for the suggestions/help fellas.

Hey no problem man, and thank you for the information. I had never heard about the capacitors going bad inside the ecu.
I know I've searched the forums and dredged so many threads for answers, only to come up with nothing because no one comes back to say thanks or follow up.
Edit: Anyone know if there is a way to get a [SOLVED] tag in the title so people know where to look for answers instead of looking through everything?
