car goes into limp mode before vtec kicks in
i have just swapped a 1992 import sir engine into a 1998 uk spec esi.
now the car is warm at this point.
but when still or driving the car seems to limit at 3k revs (going into limp mode to protect engine i believe) i can't figure out why this is.
engine management light is on so how do i find out what the problem is? (i know where the diagnostic plugs are) but is there a way to find a code without using a computer program plugged in? or does anyone know the answer to my problem?
i had to wire my map sensor to ecu could this be a problem with soldering?
lambda sensor is fine
or could it also be that i changed ecu from p28 to the p30 that came with new engine
any help will be great and thanks in advance

you need to check to make sure your vtech sulinoide isn't clogged. Check the screen on it and clean it with brake cleaner or gasoline

^that theory would work if VTEC is set at 3k RPM...like on a multi stage VTEC engine or something.
Most likely needs a distributor due to a bad CKP/TDC sensor.

I'm going to guess you're being sarcastic, since the things OP has already said makes it pretty clear that it's an OBD1 setup, so there isn't a secondary O2 sensor, and even if there were one, it wouldn't cause limp.
Just to be clear, when I said "most likely nothing", I meant there is nothing that it is most likely, NOT that there wasn't a problem.

here are the codes
4 CKP - crank position sensor
20 Electrical load detector
22 VTEC pressure valve
41 Primary oxygen sensor heater
if anyone can link me to posts that have solved these problems would be great or how to fix the problem.
41 i have changed so its a case of erasing that code

Re: car goes into limp mode before vtec kicks in
iv cleared the crank position sensor and oxygen sensor!
but i'm now left with electrical load detector and vtec pressure valve!
i cant seem to find the electrical load detector on my 1998 del sol which was originally
d-series engine.
with the vtec pressure valve is it just easier to replace vtec controller completely?

ELD is located in your fusebox. I'm not sure if the UK ever had ELD's. Also you didn't specify you had a vtec controller, if you do remove that **** and wire up the vtec directly to the ecu as it was intended.
With a vtec controller even if you engage it early it will not change the fuel maps. Unless the vtec controller adjusts the fuel maps as well, V-AFC Apex'i, than its a useless controller.

vtec solenoid i meant sorry, well i don't think uk models do have ELD as i think its just searching for it from the old car but because i'm using the p30 from import sir 1992 its looking for it where as its not actually got one.
will this be a problem or nothing to be concerned about?

Re: car goes into limp mode before vtec kicks in
You already have this thread going about your issue(s) on this car and vtec is one of them.
Please do not create multiple threads for the same car and issue(s). Just continue here until you get resolution.
Unless these are two different cars.... If so I can fix.
