Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
Lost in all the Hams/Rosberg saga is that Alonso drove another epic race.....good job by JEV also. Button was racy, wrong call on tyres screwed him and Checo. BOTH Marussia cars finish again, and heyyyyyyy that Crashtor dude somehow managed to finish a race w/o taking out a few competitors.............great race....I enjoyed it. NOT looking forward to the long break however.....

Roseberg was complaining about passing Hamilton when he was still >1.2s behind and the radio chatter was total BS.
The Vettal bouncing of the wall "like a boss" moves was awesome.
Riciardo winning was awesome.
Seeing Alonso go as long as did on those worn tires and not fail was epic!!
This race was total action packed and enjoyable.
Looking forward to more of this, but that summer break is going suck for us waiting.

not really sure how AWESOME a race is when it's determined merely by chance of a yellow flag after you've already passed pit in because you are leading a race by distance and everyone else slower than you are able to get into pit while you have to cycle around.
doesn't sound much like awesome to me.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
why should we even race then? just award points for qualifying order so the fastest car rightly gets what it deserves and pack up on saturday.
how is a poorly-timed safety car different from a passing rain shower?
i'll answer my own question: **** happens. and this is why we race.

ROS should have made more of an attempt to pass HAM when the call came out over the radio. Perhaps he thought he'd be able to come out ahead on fresher rubber later on though. Who knows. Perhaps he wasn't as Hungary as HAM.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2014 Season Thread
i think ROS was playing politics and negotiating over the radio. he didn't want to get under HAM's gearbox unless he knew he was going to be let past. smart move (from a driver with less raw talent) in my opinion. if he had bollocked up behind HAM and then diced with him, he would have toasted his tyres.
instead he had that final shot at HAM in the last couple laps since he saved his tyres for it, where HAM had to literally squeeze him out to prevent him from passing. the political implications of that will play into ROS's favor going into the break.
i know this is what ROS was thinking because I know how to think like a champion who is going to be gifted the WDC despite having a faster teammate.

Huntington beach is nice because you are close to Newport and rich people. If you want to stay closer to LAX, I would look at Redondo or Hermosa beach.
