A little update:

this past May long weekend I took advantage of the holiday and nice weather and installed the coilovers back.

taking off the stock suspension

20140517_145032 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

washed the coilovers before installing it

20140517_142936 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

I also mounted the 6UL's

on the ground

_DSC0166 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0168 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0173 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

then parked it back in the garage lol

_DSC0186 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

the week after I went to MPI(insurance company) to get it inspected for the damage claim

IMG_20140528_082019 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

and here is the total cost of the damage

_DSC0209 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

they're gonna fix it so yay for me cause I still get to keep the car, now I need to save up to get the whole car painted when I do the claim.

after getting it inspected I tried polishing the scratch on the quarter panel and the roof, that way it doesn't look too bad cause i'm not gonna do the claim till maybe next year.

before

20140530_192326 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

applied the rubbing compound

20140530_193258 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

then after polishing and applying wax

20140530_194250 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

did the same thing on the roof, i just forgot to take before pictures

20140530_194902 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

then gave it a wash to rinse all the dust

20140531_030248 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

20140528_213342_8_bestshot by bonspeed07, on Flickr

and then last weekend

I installed the LED third brake light, I had to DIY the brake light cause my CTR spoiler doesn't have a brake light unlike the CX/DX OEM spoiler

forgot to take pictures of the brackets that I made but it's just a piece of thin aluminum plate then I bended it to 90° angle, and then screwed it on the trim panel. the LED light is attached on the plate by a double sided tape.

some pictures of the finish product

_DSC0193 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0195 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0196 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

now it's more VIU friendly

also, last week I picked up some legend calipers and prelude vtec rotors. the guy i bought off switched with Type R brakes so I bought his old front brake set-up.

_DSC0203 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

comparison between the integra/SiR caliper and legend double piston caliper

_DSC0206 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

now I just need new pads and a 1" brake master cylinder to match these calipers.

also next week I'm installing the a/c system, hopefully I can get it done within the week so I can bring it to the next autocross event.

Ive been looking for a brake light for my hatch as well. Does the 3rd brake light light up your whole hatch at night?

yeah it does, i think it's because it doesn't have a housing. but I drove it at night and my friends says it's really visible from the back, now I won't get dinged by the VIU for not having a third brake light.

==========================================

I haven't really done anything much on the car lately, here's just a few random stuff that I accomplished this past few weeks.

got these 2 sets of used dunlop direzza z2's one set is for the 6ul's and one set is for the te37's, got the tires used but it still has a lot of thread on them and also got them for a good deal.

20140617_232923 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

brought it to work to get them mounted on the rims. I put back the ad08's on the slipstreams cause the fronts are almost done so i'm just gonna daily drive on them until it's totally worn out. I also noticed that the ZII's are a little wider/bigger compared to the ad08's even if they're the same size.

20140621_165309 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

and then took a picture of the with the slipstreams again, i still like the look of the rims on the car even if they're just cheap rims.

20140621_182613 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

20140621_183249 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

also another small addition to my Spoon parts collection, wide rear view mirror

_DSC0328 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0327 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

another part also came in, since I already got tires for the te's I bought a new set of valve stems for the rims so i can get them mounted. the old valve stems are aready faded so these new ones will look a little better compared to the faded ones

_DSC0330 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0335 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

I got a little excited to see how it will look so I took a quick snap of the rims with the valve stem on it and the lug nuts

_DSC0349 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

then after that I taped the lips and center bore of the rims to prevent it from getting scratch when i get the tires mounted

_DSC0340 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

the next day i brought the rims and tires to work to get the tires done, here they are now.

_DSC0357 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

drove home right away to see how it looks on the car lol

I took some shots of the car with the new'ish rims

_DSC0361 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

_DSC0364 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

and I also installed the Spoon wide rear view mirror

_DSC0366 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

did some basic maintenance on the car too, kind of a race preparation too for this saturday's autocross

_DSC0372 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

draining the oil and swapping out the wheels to 6ul's

_DSC0373 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

tomorrow will be my 1st race of the season, keeping my fingers crossed that nothing bad happens to the car again.

Thanks I appreciate it.
And how do you compare the z2 to the ad08's? I'm currently looking at those two tires and can't really decide which to go with.

thanks for the kind words guys

<<<@!5!@>>>

it was my first time driving on them yesterday actually, and i don't know if it's just me or cause i'm still getting used to the tires or could be the pavement cause it just rained but I find it kind of like slips a little bit when your turning then suddenly you get the traction back. one thing i notice for sure is you don't need to warm them up first like the ad08's.

================================================== ======

update from yesterday's race

my car survived and got home in one piece driving

the day turned out pretty good even with the rain before the start of the race, the pavement dried up quickly though and everyone was really happy that we don't have to drive in a wet course.

some pictures i took with my cellphone camera before going and at the venue

packed and loaded, though i still forgot to bring two things.. an umbrella and a rain coat lol

IMG_20140705_121334 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

got to the venue and took a panorama shot of some of the cars at the grids

my car and ben's k20 swap SiR

20140705_193054 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

also took a shot of this mini, looks like a really fun car to drive

20140705_193333 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

i'm not sure if there's someone taking pictures of our runs yesterday so i don't have any action pictures to post up at the moment, i do have this video of my 4th and fastest run

I guess it's my day that day cause surprisingly I got 1st place in my class.

and a solo shot I took of the car resting after 4 runs of beating

20140705_211553 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

after the race me and my friends decided to go to downtown gimli and have dinner first before heading back to winnipeg, we left gimli a little late and on the way back we catched some rain on the highway so this was the end result

haven't seen the car this dirty so i might bring it to work tomorrow to give it a good wash.

not much of an update, just some picture whoring of the car lol

last wednesday i drove the car to work to get it washed, she also got some sun bathing too

20140709_174322 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

after work when i got home, I switched the rims from 6ul's to the TE's so that the tires on the 6ul won't wear out fast since the next autocross event is not till next week.

_DSC0388 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

it was really a nice day so I kind of felt taking some shots of the car

then yesterday i was bored and got nothing to do so i decided to go to the junkyard to go caliper hunting, my rear right caliper is sticking when the e-brake is being engaged so I went there to find a replacement. after an hour I did managed to get a caliper and also got a 1" master cylinder, just have to buy some new brake pads now then i can install the legend calipers for the front.

update:

so on tuesday I went out racing again for the 2nd time this year, it was also on a different venue, it was the old venue where they used to held all the events back in 2002. I was really nervous at the beginning cause I haven't raced in that place yet plus the course was a little different compared to our usual courses and also 60+ drivers signed up that day so they had to cut down our runs to 3 instead of 4 so it put more pressure on me to get a good run.

anyway, on my last race I didn't have any action pictures to post cause the usual photographer didn't come that day, but last tuesday he was there and so was the other photographers so I have like a bunch of pictures to post this time

action pictures

and a video of my best run, good thing I had a re-run so I still got 4 runs anyway lol cause If I didn't I wouldn't have a clean run cause 3 of my runs I hit 1 or 2 cones at least, fastest time I got was 60.969 FTD was 58.451.

wasn't much lucky as my last race but still I made the podium, finished 2nd place out of 21 drivers in my class.

thanks! the rear view mirror is actually very useful, it reduces the glare of lights from cars behind you at night so you don't have the flip the mirror anymore. i also like the wide view angle there are times you don't have to use the side mirror anymore cause it's already visible from the rear view mirror.

small update:

forgot to post this one, more battle scar! lol this was from my last race, duct tape racing ftw!

20140724_212720_LLS by bonspeed07, on Flickr

then last saturday I got the strip screws on the rotors taken out, I couldn't do it at home cause I didn't have the right tools so I just brought it to work and borrowed one of our techs. tools.

IMG_20140816_132911 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

stupid screws

20140816_134758 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

forgot to take a picture but I put a lot of anti-seize on the new screws to make sure this won't happen again.

after fixing that I went to another shop to get my exhaust system installed, people are already starting to notice that my exhaust is too loud and I have been meaning to replace it too ever since but just didn't have the time, so now I was finally able to install it.

old exhaust system

20140816_173307 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

by the way the new exhaust system is just a custom one not an uber rare brand name one. I got this guy to do it, I've heard some good things about him so I went with him instead of a regular muffler shop.

jason in action(cellphone pics)

and the end result

_DSC0436 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

I'll take some shots of the middle section when I get the car up on the hoist, jason doesn't have a hoist so I wasn't able to take a shot of the full piping.

the car sounds quieter now compared before and it doesn't have that raspy bee sound on high rpm's anymore, probably because of the long resonator that i put. one thing i noticed was the car felt slower, i don't know if it's just me or maybe because the muffler is not that loud anymore lol

and here's a short clip of how the new exhaust sounds

and just a random shot

20140820_200229 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

was gonna test the new system today at autocross but when I woke up this morning it was raining so I got lazy to go, but I should have went because the sun started to show up in the afternoon oh well I guess I'll just wait till the next event in september.

and also a couple of shots my friend took from the previous meet

haha yeah the stiff rear sway bar tends to lift one of the wheels every time on a hard turn lol

a little update:

not much going on with the car lately just participated in autocross, this was from the last autocross event 2 sunday's ago..

even with the rain at the beginning of our runs we were still able to get good runs cause the pavement dried up quickly. I also managed to finish 2nd place in my class again.

no action shots so just enjoy this video

video of my fastest run that day

and last saturday, I was bored cause it was raining the whole day so I thought of doing some cosmetic stuff..

painted my iceman intake pipe with black plastidip to make it look a little subtle and also added a black(originally wanted gray but couldn't find a plain looking one) vtec solenoid cover to hide the rusted solenoid.

here's a before and after shot

update:

I got this used spoon rear lower tie bar from my brother's old ek9 that needs some tlc, so I gave it a polish to make it look presentable again.

had a great day and finished the day by placing 1st in my class

here's the video of my best run, a little coaching from one of the fast drivers there

and a grid shot of the hatch cooling down after 4 runs of beating.

after the race we went to boston pizza for the annual wind up dinner, snap a couple cellphone pictures of the hatch and ben's k20 EM1 in the parking lot

the following day though... was a different story lol

the weather was calling for rain the whole day sunday, I was already thinking of bailing out cause it will just be a fwd drift run instead of autocross lol

but.. it's the last event of the year and after this we'll have to wait for 7months again to race so I said f*ck it I'm gonna go and race!

so here I am at the grids all wet lol

IMG_20140928_095457 by bonspeed07, on Flickr

after standing for half a day marshalling and getting wet I guess it's all worth it, cause I finished 1st place in my class again and surprisingly I also got raw fastest time of the day lol

again no action shots so just a video of my best run on sunday

the aftermath of wet racing, I spun out of the grass in one of my runs on sunday that's why there's some chunks of mud on the fender and hood lol

thanks man! slow progress at the moment though..

===============================================

Happy new year everyone!

long time no post I've been busy with work and and other stuff that's why I didn't have much time to update the thread, plus it's winter season and no more autocross also all the cars are put away till the spring makes it really boring.

anyway here's a quick recap from October 2014

before I parked the car for winter I tested the chipped ECU that I got from my brother, made sure it's working good

it was fine although the CEL was on cause it was looking for the vtec pressure switch which my engine didn't have, no big deal cause I can just get that deleted and no more CEL

Putting it away again for winter so I took some of the parts off and put the stock suspension back on, I cut the OEM springs this time that's why it's still low cause it's easier to install the shocks lol

Since it's a new year I thought I should at least update this thread a little bit even if there's nothing much happening with the car. last year I haven't really got anything new for the car so I picked up a few stuff for it for this year.

just a few parts that I picked up, mostly needs vs. wants this time cause it really needs the attention

ATE type200 brake fluid

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

I've been driving the car for almost 3 years so I think it's time for a brake fluid flush, and also I'm installing the legend calipers in the front so I can bleed it all at the same time.

Buddyclub fan switch

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

last year at autocross there are times that the temperature went up and almost overheated cause of the fan not kicking right away, I just remembered I didn't replaced it when I did the rebuild so maybe it's time for a new one. I was originally gonna go with a Spoon fan switch but the shop didn't have it in stock so I just went with the buddyclub cause it's got the same rating anyway and they gave me a good deal on it.

Hawk HP plus performance brake pads

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

I also got a set of new brake pads for the legend calipers, been autocrossing with economy brake pads since so we'll see how the hawk's difference.

Goodridge stainless steel brake lines

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

I've been wanting to replace the brake lines ever since but I want to do it all at once when I got the calipers and new fluid to save time on bleeding it over and over, plus one of the brake line hoses in the front really needs to be replaced cause it got caught one time on the rim and made a cut into the rubber. Would be nice though if it was Spoon but It was too expensive so I just settled on this one.

Brand new replacement evaporator

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

I had to buy a new evaporator because of this

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

I didn't want to use the used evaporator that I got cause when I was cleaning it I was trying to remove the expansion valve but it was too tight, I forced it out but I ruined the nut so I just got a new one that way I know for sure that it won't leak.

and also.. I sold the green daily CRV for this

by http://www.flickr.com/people/51799266@N02/, on Flickr

another CRV lol.. I sold the green one cause this one is a little newer and it's got lower km's, also the green had a rebuilt title.

while the car is away I worked on the CRV a little bit

I polished the headlights to give it a fresh look

so far that's all I have right now, I will be updating this again once all the snow is melted. My plan this year is to install some of the parts that's been left sitting and also more track time!
