It's inside the fuel tank. It's more like an inlet screen for the pump & I don't believe it's a routine scheduled replacement item. Why do you think you need to replace it?

The fuel filter for the 98" and up accord is actually the fuel pump housing. It never needs replaced unless its damaged. This will only happen iof you've taken out of the tank.

The fuel filter is located on the driver's side way down, almost by the steering rack.
I've changed a couple of these filters and trust me, you definately won't want to change it unless absolutely necessary .
Not a routine replacement item.

im not sure what year accords you are referring to, but the 98-02 certainly do not have a fuel filter near the steering rack.. They are in tank filters just as described above......maybe you are thinking of oil filter or something....

you don't take the tank out. Honda put an access panel in the trunk.

haha the op is probably confused as hell as none of you have the same answer. just to clear the air, according to the diagrams on majestic honda, there is only a filter on the fuel pump pickup. There is also a small mesh filter in the fuel rail. Looks more like a bolt but it's there. Dropping the tank is not a big deal but if you have regularly used the vehicle the filter is more than likely fine. I just took mine out 300K and it was perfectly clean and working. What issues are you having or what is the reason for changing it?

this is not the case. The access panel is not for removing the fuel pump. It doesnt even open up to the fuel tank but just the electronics around it

a clogged fuel filter wouldn't be "dumping" fuel haha what sort of mileage are you getting? Could be any number of things, any check engine light?

Someone should tell Honda to rewrite their FSM as it states (with illustrations) to remove the fuel tank Unit(which includes the pump and filter) through the access hole.

Well the OP had a 99 - 6th gen. Which means the fuel pump DOES come out of the access hole in the trunk.

The 4th and 5th gens - yes the fuel tank should be removed to get to the pump....some have used other methods

Why did Honda remove the standard fuel filter from the cars in 98+ ?

I cant see how a mesh keeps the fuel system clean compared to a filter. On the 5th Gen, the filter can sometimes get clogged over time, which tells me that it is serving a purpose somehow.

There are many on here that are willing to help but you have to help us help you.

You are at the end of a pretty old thread, give us almost nothing to go on.

Best bet, start a new thread - if you haven't already, I see you have three posts and two are in here? In the new thread give us the details of the car (year, engine, trans) and more information on what the issue with the car is.

Hello all memebers,

On my honda accord 2.0iES, 1999, the fuel filter Part Number: 16900-S84-G01, is located underneath the car near the nearside rear wheel.

My suggestion is that if you are not sure if a certain component is fitted or not fitted on your vehicle is only to call the car parts and ask them where it is located.

I called honda parts and told them I need to buy to know if there is any fuel filter on my Honda and where it may be located. There were very helpful.

Hope this is helpful.

regards

When it cuts out have you checked to see if you have ether fuel or spark after it quits?

Main ignition relay
Ignition system issues (ignitor / ignition switch)
Fuel system issues (pump)
Dead battery
Dirty corroded battery connections

So, I don’t need to change the fuel filter when I change my fuel injectors?
