Re: Blow off valve or not?
If you are boosted you should be running a BOV. Its bad for the turbo not to run one. Im running Turbosmart Raceport. Love turbosmart products. tial is good too

Some people say if you run an anti-surge housing you dont need one. I have the anti-surge housing but went ahead and ran one anyways (Turbosmart Raceport)

Yes, you should run one.
I have a synapseengineering synchronic bov and no issues almost 2.5 years later. Its fully adjustable based on how fast you want it to dump.

Re: Blow off valve or not?
When you slam the throttle shut on a turbo at full speed it will definitely blow all that air out the front of the compressor in a violent way. Run a bov unless you have a diesel

Re: Blow off valve or not?
I run a tial blow off valve my ef is set up for drag racing as well but if you take off your blow off valve you are just asking for boost leaks the pressure is going to have to go some where when you let off the gas

Re: Blow off valve or not?
It explains it in the instructions that come with the valve. Basically if you have a big cam you pull less vacuum so you need a diff spring. A normal engine will make about 20 in hg at idle. Mine makes around 14-15 in hg due to the cam.

Okay, running S2Pro1s cams.
Didn't take attention about that, what are the consequences If spring is too soft or stiff?

Re: Blow off valve or not?
If the spring tension is too low, idle vacuum will pull it open when you don't want/need it open.
If the spring tension is too high, vacuum won't pull it open when you do want/need it to open.

Re: Blow off valve or not?
Using TIAL also, and yes it matters, so you should run one regardless of setup, street or track only, it's doesn't matter if you want to save your turbo.......... Don't think this is an official chart, but basically what everyone is talking about...
