Default 11.50 Index builds

seeing how the 11.50 Index class has evolved and become such a big class since its debut, I wanted to start this thread to get a nice discussion going about the class itself as well as builds. I myself am putting together a car which i hope to make an 11.50 index competitor. for those that do not mind sharing there set ups and cars weight etc. feel free. my current build is a 2000 civic ex. cut up for weight reduction, lexan windows all around, kaizenspeed brake and trailing arm set up. with a stock k20 right now with just a ported rbc, t/b etc etc... will probably be doing upgrades later on to the engine once i see where i am at. overall the car will be staying a k20 whether it gets a complete engine build later on or not...

At the weight that your car appears to be you should have no problem. I would get aem v2 a set of pro jay itbs and a good header with a hood or side exit a parayonto or something that style. It's simple and not simple at the same tune u need injectors good set of tires and so on I was running 11.50 last year in a full interior all glass integra at about 480 hp and a set of 24.5 x9 tires. Of course it was boosted. Look at Scott mcmasters car for some guidance. All motor k ef hatch all glass (fully built motor) I believe he went 10.8

With k20 boost I think 11.50 will be easy to come by. No need for cutting for weight reduction or lexan windows if you boost. Not real familiar with big all motor set ups but I'm sure the 2.0 will help you out couples with some itb I think 11.5 easy.
Plus some seat time.

I'm on a very basic set up stock sleeve b18c5 and at 11.0 looking at 10.0s

My car will be all motor. Build is already underway. I just wanted to start a thread where racers in this class can interact, share builds, ideas etc... Seeing as how this class has become such a hit and its only getting bigger...

Where do you guys run the index classes at? Here in the midwest we only have IFO events and they don't believe in index racing lol.

Yeah this is my issue too. I want to build an 11.50 index car with my Civic but Mid west has no Index love. East coast, you're golden. Here, fucked.

I am over in the east coast. the index classes out here have been growing drastically. at the moment I have not weighed my car. It is still under construction. It's a 2000 ex coupe. It is all cut up, added lightweight front brake system, saving for ks rear end, lexan all around, fuel cel. as far as my setup goes, it's a simple setup. stock k20a2 bottom, thinner head gasket, stock port head with BC valvetrain and skunk2 pro 2 cams, ported rbc with 74mm throttle body, obx 1-2, and oem si lsd etc...

Got any pics of the cutting? I'm curious to see some still images of cuts. I just see all these nyce1s, taiboogie, etc. vids and you can see that they're cut, just not clearly to see what's being cut/how clean it looks.

this is the cutting my friend and I did. as well as painting of the inside of the car and engine bay. after we painted it we decided to cut more and now just waiting to get a 4 point welded in to repaint the inside. this is pretty much how the car sits right now. hoping to get some extra time over the winter to get the care done, make my windows, drop the swap, and begin wiring the car, along with running new brake lines and plumbing the fuel system.

Damn that actually looks pretty good. What did you guys use to cut it? Clean up all the edges? Thanks for sharing just trying to get ideas. Who sells lexan for the door windows? I was looking at getting a set of Franks Fiberglass doors for my EG but not sure who sells the windows for the front?

We used a grinder with cutting blades. Took our time, cut precise, and went back around to smooth out the edges once we were done cutting. As far as the windows we just make our own.

You don't save much weight from removing the outer apron. Every little bit counts though if you're building an all motor build.

Yea, I'm suffering double, building a gen 2 teg, and building a nonvtec engine to power it. The only way I'd cut all of that stuff out, is if it was a strictly track car. I'd have a full cage in it, that extended through the firewall and went forward.

the car is just strictly for racing so i decided to get it as lightweight as possible and see what the 2.0 does. any other index racers or builds underway feel free to chime in...

I threw my wife's car together in a few days for the last race of the season, she had been racing in the Pro class locally(12.99 to 11.50) class in her Integra but wasn't that competitive as it was running 12.70s and had a hard time with the faster cars. I sold the chassis and dropped the B20vtec into a 92 EG hatch, I didn't have much time to lighten it up, only the passenger and rear seats but she was getting faster every pass and went 12.16 @ 114mph. We didn't have the right gearing, she had previously been running some 20x8x14 slicks in the Integra but one wouldn't hold air at the track for the civic so we borrowed some 22x8x13 and some Aero wheels to make some passes. The 22s were putting her at 8400 at the end and she makes peak power at 9000 or so and revs to 9500 so we definitely left some power on the table.

Some seat time and some better gearing/chassis setup and maybe some more power she should be in the 11s with ease next year. We would like to make it down to a couple events next year as we are in Eastern Canada, she would like to run the all-motor sport class but we might try the 11.50 index as well, just drop the exhaust and go. I'm going to update the build thread soon as there are going to be some big changes.
