Re: Need advice on JDM engine replacement of D16Y7 in 98 Civic LX
Jdmenginescorp.com is what I would have recommended. After buying a few motors and other parts from them, I would say I'm very impressed.
$895 is a little pricey for a D series long block....but 1/3 of that price was shipping charges. From a reputable seller, $600 for the motor itself isnt bad at all.
Locally is a little different...but locally dealing can be a little hairy.

agree with the higher risk when buying from some guy of "CL" but yikes ! that's alot for a sohc you can get high comp b20's for 450$ cash at local importers here. I know that would be requiring a whole swap but if you all ready have an integra it's not a bad deal guess sohc guys have It harder ?

Re: Need advice on JDM engine replacement of D16Y7 in 98 Civic LX
Update, Pulled the intake, exhaust, rocker cover, timing belt cover, alternator, power steering pump... Got all the old stuff off the longblock... The top end looks very clean, pretty much as pictured so far. The wtaer pump was a little leaky but replaced it and put in a new timing belt, gaskets, etc.
Yanking out the D16Y tonight... Good thing cause it's consuming about 2/3 a gallon of water and it's not getting into the oil or leaking externally.... Head gaskets gotta be getting worst..
I'll let you guys know how it goes from there.... Found a mark on the balancer too which leads me to be a little curious. Hopefully it's nothing.

The replacement engine D16A ZC went in without a hitch, rear main oil seal looked iffy so I replaced it, swapped over the crank sensor, new water pump, tensioner bearing and timing belt...
Purr's like a kitten, run's better than my other engine ever ran....
I used texasjdmcorp on Ebay, but they aren't in Texas they are in Clifton N.J. Excellent service, good product....

I'm looking to replace my d16y7 also. Did the motor go in fine without any issues? I have a 1998 cx. The engine you put in was in plug and play and work fine?

But the one thing you MUST do, is the Japaneze JDM's do not have a crank sensor, so you take the one off your old engine. Everything else bolts and plugs right in.
But once in you have to follow a procedure so the ECU is reset to the crank sensor. Found that part on youtube....
Runs great!!!
