exhaust valve stuck

Remove the spark plug and put a long extension down into the cylinder you will be able to see exactly when it's at top dead center when it rises to the highest point and begins to drop

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Right, I use a wire coat hanger. So what is the difference between upstroke cycle & TDC. I get the TDC, but what do they mean by upstroke cycle? Im just covering all my basis.

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Seen a toyota 22r beat the valve seats into the head once from high rpm. I know its not a honda but they are similar. That would be my guess if you are sure you are adjusting them right. Possibly bent rocker but i highly doubt that

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Pull head and get the head worked. New valves, seats, guides, and seals. Can prob get away with just valve seats but i would do the whole works. Dont want to have to pull it again if all possible. I dont know if there is a proper way to completely keep this from happening. The steel seats just eventually work there way into the aluminum of the head from being constantly beat on by the valves

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Its Possible to do at home but i wouldnt recomend it. Valve stem seals can be put in pretty easily on your own. If you have a spring compressor to get valve spring off you can do stem seals. Seats and guides special tools are needed to remove them and a press to install them. After seats and guides are in i would recomend getting a valve lapping tool to get them to seat the best as possible but this isnt something that has to be done. A lapping tool is cheap tho and easy to do

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Well the good thing is a valve job isnt to expensive. I wouldnt do this to my car but if you absolutely need to take the adjuster screw out of the rocker and grind it down until your clearance is back right. Then when you get the money get your valve job done and buy new adjuster screws when you get valves done. Like i said i prob wouldnt do that to my motor but if money is tight that should get it back going. Just be careful if you do it to make sure the part of the screw you grind is as smoothe as possible and even across. Make it look as close to the way it was before grinding it as possible. Just a little shorter

Tried adjusting my valves one more time this weekend and they are tight. The ticking sound went down' but I can tell my exhaust valves are laud. I'm gonna let my wife keep driving the V to work' those valves are jack up anyways. I wonder if I can pull another cylinder head from da JY & if so' what cares are compatible?

Re: exhaust valve stuck
1st compression test before valve adjustment.
#1 165 psi
#2 160 psi
#3 165 psi
#4 175 psi
2nd compression test after valve adjustment.
#1 165 psi
#2 170 psi
#3 135 psi
#4 180 psi
This were Im at the moment. If I cant get these valves to sound a bit more silent, I would feel more confidence driving my V.

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Worst case scenario would be to go a JK & pull a head cylinder from another engine. Anyone know what other cars/engines I can pull the cylinder heads off?

Re: exhaust valve stuck
LS integra will have the same head. I believe the CRV heads are identical to LS heads, even with the PR4 stamp.
If you are swapping heads, consider a B16 head for some fun VTEC action.

Re: exhaust valve stuck
Im back. I think I adjusted my valves. I had to set them at the bare minimum specs on both intake (3") and exhaust (6"). Anyone know if I can go (5") on the intake and keep (6") in the exhaust? My intake are abit on the load side.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: exhaust valve stuck
This job is done deal, was able to adjust my valves within an acceptable range. I also change my oil and added Marvel Mystery Oil. Some old timer swore up and down that It will keep me valve seats and guides nice & lube.
Thanks to all who gave a dam. Peace!
