Yup. First time I've had them wear this fast. But my other engines were 1.8s that revved almost 1000 rpm less.
Still runs. Won the first race of the season, was leading the second race and got pushed off my an out of class car and retired with damage.

I'd treat that pretty seriously. Rapid wear like that is a sign of an unhappy valvetrain. Do you know what spring kit it is from supertech? And what cams does it have. If those retainers wore that quick an oem one may snap. Unless it was a material defect. I'd look a little deeper into root cause on that one...

the head has oem '00 itr cams in it. a few old school b series guys confirmed that it happens with ti retainers at high revs. the springs move and wear the retainer. i can see the evidence of the spring moving on the bottom of the retainer.

Re: Place your bets.
I have a couple heads with the same retainers. The gsr only spun to 8500 and the retainers lasted at least 25% longer. A general rule of thumb is to check ti retainers once a year at a minimum.
Or just use steel oem ones. 3 days and some dyno pulls on them. No issues.
Thanks chad for the tip.
