Won't shift into reverse
01 CRV AWD M/T, 117K miles, shifted fine since I bought 6 mos ago.
Pull in to work this AM, go to back up, can't get it in reverse. Went through all the gears fine, clutch seems ok though I know the fluid is needing a change. Had to push it back into a spot. After work, still wouldn't, running or not.
Too tired now to get under for a look.
I've done a little research, see bleeding the fluid alot, but also "need a new trans". Me no likey.
WTF? Every other week it's something with this friggin thing.
I'd appreciate any input, thanks.

Re: Won't shift into reverse
Bled the clutch fluid, no change. Pulled both the console to expose the shifter linkage and the airbox to have a look at the linkage/cable unions. Both cables work fine, 1st thru 4th slick as can be, goes into 5th easily, just won't go into reverse.
Looks like the trans is coming out.
What is weird is that there was no warning, like any prior difficulty going into reverse, or any sound of something breaking etc, but there was none, nothing, nada.
Pretty disgusted. I went to a manual to avoid trans problems after my Accord trans **** the bed. *****.

Re: Won't shift into reverse
Turns out the synchro ring has burring, enough to prevent shifting into reverse, according to the tech.
Had him replace and will see tomorrow how it turns out. Will post here.
Also had the timing belt/water pump/idler replaced,117K on the oem, pump was pretty fried with crust build up from seepage, as well as the oil pan, which was rotting in 2 spots.

Re: Won't shift into reverse
Well, it's not the synchro.
Put it all together, bench test seemed to work, but installed did not.
Having another used trans installed.
