Help fix pregnant wife's car - P2647 VSA CEL Rough Startup/Idle
Hello Acura Forum. My wife (5 weeks from delivery) owns a 2006 TSX. Yesterday on the freeway I gunned it to avoid a collision situation by switching lanes. Within a couple seconds the CEL and VSA messages started to appear. The car ran ok until we stopped at a light and it was acting a bit sluggish. I shut the car off and restarted it and it had a very rough idle, where it would it would fluctuate in RPM from 800 to about 2k and feel like it was going to stall during the engine pulsing.
This morning I turned it on and it seemed ok for a couple seconds but went right back to it with the engine lights. I connected my scanner and the only code that came back was P2647 (Actuator Rocker Arm Control System Stuck On).
I opened the hood and noticed some oil or some type of residue on the top left of the engine cover. I have enclosed two pictures.
I am hoping I just have to go to pepboys/napa and switch out this part but am afraid there is more to it. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...927_0314300097
Please Help/Advise!
Thanks in advance.

Tough to diagnose through the webz, could just be the Vtec Solenoid gasket or something silly. How low is the oil in the car?

Op I would first remove the coil cover and then check the vtec selonoid. The oil coming out of it is going to be high pressure. Also check the coils, and spark plugs. It could be oil is spraying on th coils causing spark issues

Power steering leak wont throw a code or cause rough idle.

Looks like the power steering hose did leak, engine oil is a little low which is weird as the engine oil low light has not activated. I looked at the vtec oil pressure switch and that whole area was drenched in PS fluid. Do you think that had something to do with the 2647 code? The car is now at the dealer since the hose is a recall issue. While driving it to the dealer it stalled a couple times while at a stop light.
They are covering the PS hose replacement but charged 130 for a diagnostic assuming the two issues are not related. I am convinced they are as they occurred at the same time, and I can clearly see PS fluid on the sensor cables.

Was the connector for the Vtec Solenoid somehow covered in fluid too?

There isn't a low oil level light, just oil pressure. These engines are known to burn oil and need to be checked frequently.

Solenoid could be the issue. I'm googling around on the net for specific tsx issues and one person said that his solenoid was replaced completely. What I would suggest is clean it up first and see how it goes from there.
