Default Loosing fuel pressure when going up hill

I installed my fuel rail and return system via the DIY on this site. I used a duel direction fuel filter, dont know if that is my problem. But my car ran fine for the first hour. was driving home and was low on fuel and it started spitting and sputtering and acting all crazy.. put gas in it, drove fine afterwards. a day later it started doing it again with 3/4 of a tank. so i changed the fuel pump.. went to drive it today and it started doing it again. while i was going up a hill. does anyone have any recommendations on what to check?

just replied to your PM. Did you make sure to ziptie the return going back to the pump itself? I had a buddy who did the instal and that popped off during the instal and cause a bunch of fuel issues (one being spit sputter and pressure)

update.... a second pump is apparently bad, it will works fine until about five minutes or so in even sitting at idle... im going to make the assumption and say until the car warms up. then the pump quits maintaining pressure. shop pulled pump, bench tested with a jump box and same problem. just found it odd that two pumps would do that

question, looking through the photos why were the original wires spliced?

one bad bump... bad luck... two bad pumps... somethings wrong. All I can assume is maybe electrical. Maybe get out the volt meter and start checking amps and etc.

They checked it at the shop its at and said the wiring was good. But I agree with you 100% something has to be wrong... just dont know what it could be.

I'm not very familiar with the entire OE fueling system BUT it sounds similar to a problem I was having on my motorcycle. Try removing the gas cap right after it dies and see how much air whooshes into the tank. If whatever vent setup allows air into the tank is clogged it'll stop letting fuel out at a certain point. If a TON of air is going in when you loosen the cap maybe no air is getting into the tank to replace the gas that's leaving.

Putting gas in would resolve the problem as it did the firs time because you're removing the cap and letting air in the tank in the process. BUT it still wouldn't run the next day after the vacuum had built up in the tank. Seems legit LOL.

LONG SHOT.

The pulled the pump out and put it in a 5 gallon bucket of fuel, connected it to a jump box same problem. What the problem is that could be possibly eating up pumps , no clue.

AS long as your not running mostly ethanol it's irrelevant. Buddy ran an ethanol setup once in his CRX and it ate away at EVERYTHING.

filter? really? haha it's always something small and stupid. Next time try testing fuel pressure instead of replacing pumps, may save you some time and headache.

i was losing pressure period. that was the problem. the filter was collapsing inside the tank. but i was gonna change it, but something talked me out of it.

sometimes the return valve in the pump itself allows too much fuel to flow back. Stuck open injectors can create issues as well, the Fuel pressure regulator, bad filter etc. The reason I stated to watch the PSI is because it will tell you where to search first. Not getting enough fuel is one thing but you also have to maintain the pressure
