All the American manufacturers offer stripped down full size base model trucks for as low as $20k almost, heck right now dealers where I live are trying to move A LOT of 2013 pick ups, I bet a lot of people are getting some fantastic deals.

The economy of a mid size isn't much of a saving...they still get poor fuel mileage no matter what it seems unless you go for the weakest gas motor offered along with pitiful 2WD essentially making the truck useless. That and a full size can be had cheaper at the expense of things like power windows...which even on brand new Ford trucks I've found to be slow garbage, and in the cold most of them just refuse to work forcing you to assist it by pulling on the protruding part of the window by hand.

Also GEARING. The reason why GM's full size V8 pick ups are getting the best fuel mileage of them all right now.

Meeting at Honda.

Boss: How should we design the next Ridgeline? Open to new ideas...anyone?

Design Trainee - Let's just make a truck.

Why is it such a difficult concept to understand that some people just don't want a full size truck, regardless of the "value" it represents?

If everyone did, no one would be buying Tacomas, Ridgelines, Frontiers, etc (and Tacomas and Ridgelines sell decently well).

Regardless, modern Tacomas and Ridgelines are about the same size as a full size domestic was 10-15 years ago or so.

You obviously have no clue about full size truck resale values. Silverados and Sierras pull a premium used. F-150s also hold their value quite well. Search online for used prices and you'll see they go for more than new ones with rebates/incentives.

Only a few? Well the 3 best can hang in the economy dept just fine

v6 mid size trucks
Ridgeline - 15/21
Frontier - 16/22
Tacoma - 17/21

v8 full size trucks
F-150 - 15/21
Ram 1500 - 15/22
Silverado - 16/23

Plus full size models are alot heavier, larger, and more powerful as I've stated before. Again, mid size trucks are jokes for the mpg they are rated at and can only do half the towing for the same price.

So you're telling me that a used F150 is more expensive than a new one? Do they get better with age or something, or are people just too stupid to realize that domestic trucks are almost always $6K+ off sticker and rebates happen all the time...not to mention that used interest rates are much higher than those for a new vehicle.

Must be some good stuff coming out of Detroit lately...

Funny though...I knew two people that had late model trucks (one Chevy, one Ford) and both were going to get butt-raped for trade-in value, so they had to keep their current truck else roll a significant amount of $$$$ into their new loan. They thought the same as you.

Real world though is different. These reports are all over the internet of not living up to stated numbers.

I don't tow 10K lbs. I also don't use my truck for work. I get over 20mpg just fine without inflated numbers. A midsize also tows my race car just fine as well.

If a truck does exactly what someone needs it to do, in a slightly smaller package, why do you think you are so right on this issue?

from the looks of the outline it will already look better than the current Ridgelines. as long as they dont screw up the actual body of it, the shape looks really good. if it ends up looking good and having decent features i will be seriously thinking about getting one. the benz lease is up in two years so i might be all over this at that point

i've never had a Ford hit it's claimed fuel mileage ever. from personal experience they just don't seem to be able to do it.

my last 3 Chevy's did all day long (excluding either of my Duramax's) '97 Burb would get 17-18mpg highway (rated 16-17 iirc), had an '02 1500 with the 4.8 that would regularly get 26mpg highway (rated 20mpg lol), and then my old LT1 Camaro. rated 26 highway, got as high as 32mpg.

My 06 burb could hit 21-22 highway all day. mixed was closer to 15-16, but it still amazed me that that land barge could manage that.

My '90 F-150 gets a little better than what it's rated for. Rated for 14mpg combined and I get 16.2mpg with it.

Here is a concept that someone made in PS.

I think it looks cool. Can't wait to see what the new Honda Pilot is going to be, because they usually base the Ridgeline from the Pilot.

My 2013 f150 ecoboost fx4 was cheaper after my discount and rebates than it would have been to buy new earlier this summer. My truck stiickerd at $50k and I got it for $39-40ish and a used 2013 w/ 10k miles was around $46ish. Now I know you can negotiate but **** it

Glad I had that thing for this bullshit winter

My F250 is rated at like 13/17 mpg and it hit 13 all day. Then I uncorcked it and I'm sitting at like 18-22 even burying the throttle. Not a rich tune so little to no smoke.

My '09 Corvette was rated at something silly like 22/26 and it hit 28-32mpg highway constantly. I miss that car, don't miss the shake, rattle and hum though.

I get why folks would go for a midsize truck though. It can be a pain in the *** parking a full size especially if you're in downtown areas where parking spots are sized for maximum income.

The 2015 Pilot is exactly the same as the MDX, which is based on the Odyssey. All the same.

Ridgeline (from what I read), is expected to be based on another platform.

I highly doubt Honda will invest hundreds of million on something all new. It's not GM or Ford which got the truck market.

I'm betting that it will be based on the Odyssey-Pilot also.
