Icon6 KraftWerks B-Series Race Supercharger Kit (Unbelievable Gains!)

KraftWerks is proud to announce the much anticipated and long awaited B-Series Race Kit.

Like all KraftWerks supercharger kits, the B-Series Race Kit is based off of the impressive Rotrex supercharger. Rotrex’s patented traction drive technology works unlike any other supercharger, and means that usable power is always available, all the way to redline.

The KraftWerks B-Series Race Kit provides instant throttle response and a progressive power curve that increases all the way to redline without the typical spiking or surging turbochargers are known for. This unique, more useable power curve results in reduced cylinder pressures, less strain on engine components, and increased reliability. Rotrex superchargers also operate much cooler when compared to turbochargers and other supercharger systems, which reduces the engine’s intake air temperature as well as its risk of detonation.

The B-Series Race kit fits all B-Series engine blocks and is designed to work on stock engines. The Race kit includes brackets, a C30-94 Rotrex supercharger, oil cooler, pulley, and fastening hardware. This kit does NOT include piping, intercooler, or fuel management.

Rotrex superchargers are renowned for their compact size, high adiabatic efficiency, low vibration, and quiet operation. Their unique traction drive technology is what makes all of this possible, which, unlike other superchargers, transmits power through frictional forces between its rolling elements. Each Rotrex unit features its own self-contained oiling system that remains independent of the engine. Its dual-action oil pump supplies traction fluid to the supercharger while the supplied cooler ensures proper fluid temperatures at all times.

Included Items:
• Rotrex C30-94 Supercharger
• KraftWerks Supercharger 120mm Pulley
• Rotrex Self-Contained Oiling System
• KraftWerks Rotrex Oil Cooler
• KraftWerks High-Quality CNC-Machined Brackets
• High-Quality Metric Fasteners and Hardware
• Silicone Air Inlet Elbow
• Double Sided Drive Belt - Works off Stock and Aftermarket Pulleys
• Installation Instructions

- Kit REQUIRES Custom Fabrication for Intercooler + Piping and Engine Tuning
- Kit REQUIRES removal of A/C Compressor and Power Steering
- Kit REQUIRES header that has narrow pairing (MegaPower or Alpha Series Header)

No tech needed, for an incomplete kit for $2,800 and still would need everything that a turbo setup would need... Do you realize what complete turbo setups are out there for the base price of this kit? Hell, just look at the powerband it has... Save your money kids.

The Rotrex units use a 4 speed gear box that can go over 120k in RPM and use turbocharger compressor wheels and compressor covers. (mostly the holset HX wheels in a TO4b cover)

They are a pretty good product from my experience. I like them.
They have been around for a long time mostly on snowmobiles.

Nevermind a/c, but to remove the P/s to get it to work as well? wtf.. I rather spend money on the procharger kit, which is complete for 3900$..

It looks cool, good idea in theory but he's right. It's still an incomplete kit for 2800$. For that price, you can get more bang for you buck with a turbo charger kit.

(http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/goprokit.html) Lower the price or include more for this price. Kinda sucks to loose AC & PS when some turbo kits you can use both and make more power.

why is everyone bashing this kit lol, just because you think it's the exact same thing as a vortech unit, it's not. I could write a essay on the rotrex units from what i've read up on the past few weeks. I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the haterade bandwagon towards these. Why yes it is more cost effective to slap a turbo kit on a b-series and make more power in the long run, some people do use their cars for other things besides straight line racing. A bunch of road racing cars are running them and are posting better lap times vs turbo setups on the same vehicle. You guys should shoot over to k20a.org and look at the amount of K cars running these rotrex setups. I'm interested in trying one myself or at least take a ride in a rotrex powered car 1st.

Pros of the unit
Less heat in the engine bay
More space up front in bay for cramped up cars i.e. CRX's DA's and EF's
No tapping oil pans, running oil lines off the block

Cons:
Entry level pricing a tad high
Not a complete kit
Lose A/C and PS

I've had the prototype kit on my car of over a year and LOVE IT! I used to call myself a "turbo guy" and would actually poke fun at anything Honda/Acura that was supercharged. When I got the chance to put my car up for testing I was in the middle of another turbo build, I can honestly say getting this supercharger was a blessing.

My car is a street car, that I take to track days when the wallet and wife permit. Around town the car has a crisp/strong feel, and when I want to smash, the power comes in extremely linear and pulls ALL the way to redline. It actually makes me annoyed I have to shift because it feels so strong. So far car has been victorious over GTO's, WRX's, G35's, 350Z's, and a couple Evo's... I lost to a 400hp Evo from a dig, so eh, good for him.

I think people need to realize this is not the same type of boost as a turbo set up... This KraftWerks stuff has a different use/purpose. As for it not being a complete kit, quit f'n crying, the hardest part is done for you, intercooler piping and an intercooler isn't a big deal. Also, they call it a RACE kit, not a CREATURE COMFORT kit, if you want that A/C and P/S put that roots style stuff on your car and be slow, lol!

Lastly, I recommend going for a ride in a car with the kit before you start knocking it. It amazes me how people can make comments on something they haven't even experienced...must just be fear. If anybody is ACTUALLY interested in the kit, I'm down to arrange a few rides on my "red rocket', lol.

For that kind of money and that kind of powerband i can put together a much better turbocharger kit that will have a better powerband and more whp per pound of boost and have a complete kit not just a charger and brackets. I'm sure it wasnt easy to make this setup work for a honda application but that price tag is for the birds.

Well, I was board and decided to dedicate some time to show a small tid bit of info. Given, if you didn't go with Skunk2's parts you may be able to save a bit of money here or there, but you most likely wouldn't be able to duplicate their results. The same could be said about the over priced Full Race turbo kit that was selected. *All prices were taken from the manufacturer's websites. They do not include supporting mods like fuel injectors, fuel pump, tuning system, ect. This is essential no matter the platform chosen.*

Skunk2

Total Price: $4,563.76 - $4,959.31 (This depends on parts selected and estimated CAI price. This does NOT include added cost of "Cu$tom" Intercooler and charge piping or the added cost of a Blow Off Valve.)

Kraftwerks Kit

RPM - HP - TQ
2k - 35 - 95
4k - 95 - 125
6k - 200 - 175
8k - 300 - 195

Mildly Comperable Turbo Setup:

http://www.evans-tuning.com/dynos/20...t-300whp230tq/

Full Race Turbo Kit

Total Price: $4,800 - $4,923.35 (Depends on turbo selected, but includes ALL of the turbo kit.)

RPM - HP - TQ
2k - 40 - 110
4k - 115 - 150
6k - 255 - 225
8k - 300 - 195

Anybody can fudge the scalar on a graph/plot to make it work in their favor when it comes to looks.

I am just glad that manufacturers are still engineering new and unique products or the B motor. Sometimes it feels like the B is a cookie cutter motor now for the copy everyones motor crowd. Nice to see new-ish set-ups with owner expandable build options.

The turbo sells itself. It's free power so to say and the options seem limitless. Properly sized turbo > everything. This kit is nice... if it retained AC and PS.

My complaints.

Centrifugal supercharger means boost and power are rpm related, which means you dont get 9 psi till redline. And the dyno graph shows a typical centrifugal supercharger powerband. Which means non existant low end and a very peaky, twitchy car.

What if we want more power?

It's clear the supercharger in the kit is already at it's limit

And for 5k I would expect a complete bolt in kit, fuel management and all

Hell I can run a 2871 and make 350hp and 300+ torque for literally a fraction of the cost.

Too many people thinking about straight line racing here, snappy power from a turbo isnt the best in a fwd on circuit.

Even still, I'm sure there are better non-turbo options. At least I would hope there were.
