Just bought a Fit
I never considered a Fit until this week when we were told we would no longer have company vehicles (the last vehicle I owned was an '04 Acura RSX-S). I just bought one the other day. Spent $12.5k, it is a 2009 Sport and has 40k miles on it. Forgive me that I know nothing about these cars, but it seemed like it would work for my job (I fix computers at schools for a living, so lots of driving back and forth). I bought mine at a dealership (someone traded it in), and they wanted $13.3k for it, but I told them I wanted it at $12.5 out the door, and they eventually caved and sold it to me.
Anything I should know about these cars, what to expect, etc? I will be driving about 40k miles a year, driving lots of city miles (Charlotte, NC).

Check your vin and see if the recall about motion springs in the engine was done or not. About the only thing that may pop up is coilpacks going bad or rough running and stalling when cold that can be fixed with a valve clearance adjustment. but you have some breathing room as these don't normally show up until after 50,000 miles or so.
Other than those problems that not everybody has they are a great car.

Re: Just bought a Fit
Thanks guys. Checked the VIN, recall was repaired long ago. After a few weeks, I'm happy to be in this little car. It drives nice, and does extremely well on fuel.

Nice car!
I also have a 2009 Sport (Black) I bought used almost 1 yr ago.
You did great on the price and I'm sure you are gonna love this car.
At 40k miles its not even broken in yet.
IMO, especially since you plan on putting on 40k mi/yr, I highly recommend you use ONLY full synthetic 5w-20 motor oil. I have always used Mobil 1 in my Honda Civic Hybrid and a '06 Fit Sport and never had a bit of trouble. Because I use the full synthetic I only replace the oil (+filter) every 10,000 miles.
You can take the car to Wal-Mart for oil changes and tell them you want the Mobil 1 FULL SYNTHETIC 5w-20 + filter...they charge more than for regular oil but I think it is well worth it.
A couple of other neat features to this car is that you can (easily) program auto door locks (all the doors auto lock when you drive above 9 mph) unlock all doors when car is put into park, driver side window auto up/down + ability to raise+lower windows after you shut car off (as long as no one has opened a door)-handy as I always forget and no need to have engine running to do this.
These factory mods are all in your owners manual...check it out.
If+when your Fit needs a new battery and tires, you DO NOT need to buy the ones from the dealer (both are unique sizes and not many choices), come back here or search the web for other info sites that will point out other options - Costco's Kirkland battery is a much better value but its a snug fit that requires a little modification.
Enjoy your Fit!
