Honda Civic 2012 remote starter
Just bought a new Honda Civic last month. They installed a remote starter on it. After 2 days of not driving the car has a dead battery. The dealer said its because the car needs to be plugged in to charge the battery.
They put in a over ride switch to turn the remote off.
They say to turn the switch off if not going to drive it every day.
They are most rude and do not realize that I bought a gas car NOT an electric one.
I live in Canada and do plug the block heater in when it gets very cold, I should not have to plug in when the temperture is warm out in order to not have a dead battery. the dealer is refusing to do anything and i cannot find an email for honda canada. Anyone else have this trouble?

I'd work with another dealer. The block heater has NO connection to the car battery. The block heater only heats the coolant in the block. The fact that you have a remote starter should not run the battery down.
Is this a Honda remote starter, or an aftermarket? Either way, they must not have installed it correctly since it should not run the battery down.
Good luck....

^ I agree... use another dealer for the repairs and stay away from the one you bought the car at. Is the car a manual transmission or automatic?
Not that it should matter, but I was told manual transmission Civics in our generations (8 and 9) are not compatible with remote starters...I was told that by a Honda technician I have trusted for almost a decade now.

If it is a Honda Remote Start then it was not installed properly.
If it is a aftermarket remote start then it is still installed incorrectly.
Im assuming its aftermarket because of the override switch but the dealer should be correcting this issue for you. Call Honda Canada's customer service line. They can direct you properly. Aftermarket remote starters are a gray area for dealers. They mainly sublet that type of work out to another shop.
