Best boltons for f23a1??
Okay guys, What boltons give the most peformance to the F23a1? Looking to stay NA, no forced induction or Nitrous please . Is I/H/E they way to go, or are there other better mods for performance? Im looking to break the 150whp/150wtq mark with boltons NA. What will it take? Please be specific with which brands are best. Thanks.

okie the i/h/e is the best simple idea. if you have a 4cly ex accord, aftermarket header have the same flow as ex header. but after market are lighter.
i recomend megan header cause they cheap in price, get a highflow cat, and a cat back. i have a apexi cat-back forsale if your interested.
you could also do a mild port and polish, it's kinda pricey depending on where you go but it helps alot.
also a better intake manifold and TB is good.
other people may know better stuff than me.

hit it right on the head of the nail, however, there are no aftermarket intake manifolds for this motor. ive searched high and low but to no avail.
if you want a bigger TB, check out maxbore.com he specializes in honda TB's then just take ur stock manifold and bore out the opening to match your modified TB.

Re: Best boltons for f23a1?? (Hammer99ex)
hey hammer99ex i forgot to put that for the intake manifold, you use ones off other cars. i'm running a h23 manifold on f22. seeing he has a 2.3l, it should be an exact fit even with the ports. so yeah getting a h23 manifold would be cheaper than a bored or ported stock mani ha.

Re: Best boltons for f23a1??
Okay, so leave the EX factory exhaust manifold on there.
What diameter exhaust would be good for my power goals? 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 assuming the piping is mandrel bent? Match that with a carsound Cat.
As far as intakes, is the AEM coldair the way to go?
For the intake manifold, are there any OEM manifolds that can be swapped for more power, the f23 looks pretty good already? What size is the stock throttlebody and what size should I bore it to? Is the TB swap dyno proven at this power level?

Re: Best boltons for f23a1?? (b20civic)
i had a 2 1/4 exhuast. anything bigger than 2.5 and it'll rob power unless you like boost or something. my apexi ws2 is 2 1/4 was great with a vibrant hi-flo cat.
i heard some bad things about AEM, i'd get injen cause i heard alot of good things about them. for you, you live in florida and some areas flood alot. so if you get a CAI that'll go into your bumper, get a by pass to stop sucking up water. or just get a short ram, short ram sound cooler haha.
the intake manifold i'm not sure of, the h23 manifold on my car gave more flow and increased my low end torgue by some bit. a swaped or bored tb will make a diff, not a big diff but enough to make your car flow better.
some other members will explain much better, i dont know the tech stuff well haha

you have a H23 IM on your car? Or are you referring to a intake, not a intake manifold?
The H23 IM would take some modifications to work properly.
op, stay with the stock F23 IM and just get the throttle body and plenum opened up by MaxBore.

Re: Best boltons for f23a1?? (Hammer99ex)
oh yeah haha thats true haha, forgot about ebay. i remeber when i first got my accord, a ebay intake will work great, i wrapped my intake with thermo foil and thermo wrap and stayed good, my injen right now is wrapped up, and my headers are wrapped too. haha i was going to wrap my exhaust cause i didnt want it ruined haha.
ebay headers are alright, some are better than others, it's a hit or miss with those. exhaust should be okay for a couple months, i would get a cat-back off there and swap off the muffler later on.
i would get cats off there, test tubes are gay and the cats are made very well most of the time.

yeah, I sent you a message on here about your car but I never heard back from you. Send me a PM
ah, ok. I wasn't sure if you did or didn't. The F22Bx and F23Ax heads have the same port shape and spacing. The H23 shares the same spacing but the ports are very different. For the F23Ax engines and F22B1 you would have to do more work than on the F22B2 due to the VTEC solenoid.
Did you have any issue with the coolant ports? Those looked like it was going to be close if it worked or not.
I had a H23A1 IM for my F22B1 when I was planning to build it and swap that into my hatch but my plans changed and I sold the H23 IM. I still have a spare runner section and the F22B1. There is a lot of work that should be done on the intake ports as well as on the coolant passages. If I remember correctly the coolant passages don't line up perfect and they aren't the same shape either.
Also, how did you hook up the secondaries? Do they function properly or did you remove them from the IM?
accord99power,
if you'd like more info on the H23 IM swap, check out the FAQ. There are a couple links in there about it. One was just swapping it on and the other the user was going to much great lengths to match everything up (don't think he ever finished it though).

Re: Best boltons for f23a1??
sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I dont want to be butchered and told to use the 'search' , the H23 intake manifold seeing as this was over 4 years ago. Any progress people know of on intake manifold modifications for the F23A1?

Re: Best boltons for f23a1??
do a search for threads by user AFAccord. he went pretty far with his N/A F23A1 before pulling it all apart for forced induction. as i recall he did a custom adapter to allow the H23 intake manifold to be fitted to the F23 head.
