That's the CKF sensor not the TDC sensor inside the distributor. The CKF sensor wires may be damaged, but this would NOT throw code P1362 for the TDC sensor circuit.

Who knows ? they said this was the problem and showed the code P1362 on the bill. Time will tell. BTW Is this a hard sensor to replace? just want to no if I got my $200 worth in labor.

Just saying that the code and fix don't fit. Somebody got the information wrong. Regardless, I hope your car is now fixed.

Ron you were right all the time thanks the light did come back on. I took it back they are going to put in a brand new distributor housing parts and labor $200 I guess they felt bad about not getting it right the first time, but the CKF was bad also. So I get a new distributor and a new CKF sensor parts and labor $420 from the dealer not bad I think.
The SM said codes are only a starting point to finding the real problem or is he full of s&it? Anyway I will be done this nightmare tomorrow and my son will have a good car to drive BTW this 98 Civic EX only had 84000 miles on it

While a CEL code does not tell you exactly what the problem is, it limits the possibilities and rules out many others. P1362 absolutely would not be caused by a bad CKF sensor or wire, so I'm calling complete BS on the mechanic. If he tells you otherwise, he's just trying to cover his ***.

I'm also not convinced that replacing the distributor will solve the P1362 problem, but for your sake, I hope it does. It's equally possible that a bad TDC wire or ECU is the problem.

Well if they get it wrong again there will be hell to pay. but I don't think so. I am sure they don't want to see me again any time soon. I drilled the mechanic and SM about the codes. I had then dancing lol..lol.. (very good dancer) Let hope they checked that distributor twice before putting a new one in. Or are these guys just part changer? about at the end of my rope. Ron the photo of CFK does show crew up wires which could cause a short right? So anyway it was smart to replace it too

^This (my best guess based on what's happened so far)

The photo shows that the timing belt rubbed on the corrugated tubing housing the CKF sensor wires (botched installation after replacing timing belt). It's seems highly unlikely that the wires shorted as no CKF sensor code was thrown. I can think of more devious reasons for how this came about, but that won't really help anything.

I would have replaced the corrugated tubing and taped the wires. I'm not sure replacing the sensor was really necessary.

Hello all,

I am trying to renew car tabs. And need to pass emission test for that. However the test failed because computer threw code P1362. I had the Check engine light on for few months now. I tried to reset it using scan tool, but it came back up as soon as i started my car. All i am looking here is how to pass the emission test. Any suggessions will help.
Thanks.
