Icon6 My 96 Civic Dx Coupe build thread-Top Mounted GT30 B16

Hi this is my project car. I bought this car in Detroit, Michigan for $800 a little over a year ago. So now i decided that I should post up my build thread. So this is it! this is pretty much everything ive done with the car. Ive kept a few pics to see where it was to what is now and what will be. As of right now Im working on getting my b16, gsr trans, top mount gt3076r together so you can see its setup and next years build.

2-19-2013
Now working on the build for 450+whp 20+psi built bottom end.

Here is the car when i got it

as you can see its got halo headlights and chrome broken taillights which were the first to go. The fenders, hood, and doors are primer because the car had been sideswiped with the previous owner.

So the headlights and taillights were tossed and replaced with Si tails and Blackhousings up front. Painted the fender white to see if white spray paint looks better the black spray paint so i figured it wouldnt make it look any worse and later down the road ill get it fixed and painted professionally which im looking into this year...

well my old honda civic si 99 i had was my favorite car ive owned so im kinda try to improve on that but keep it similar. it was stock b16a2, stage 3 comp clutch, dsm 450s, equal length mani, greddy td04h-15g @ 10psi (spikes to 12, and drops and holds at 10psi) , greddy type s bov, chipped p28 street tuned on crome went 13.3 which wasnt bad for such a small turbo. I pieced that kit together by trading an xbox 360 and all the games and controllers for the mani, turbo (internally wastegated), and dp. I spent $350 for the fmic, piping, and greddy type s. my buddy gave me the 450s for free. I found the p28 in an unknowing junkyard $30 and i gave my buddy 2 obd1 ls ecus for him to chip and tune my car with the p28. It wasnt bad at all for what i payed

I decided I wanted to go bseries turbo like my old 99 si turbo. so i pretty much figured i would turbo the d series and blow it up then in winter swap in a b series and change manifolds then change things as i go. so i got an ebay pieced together kit to have a little fun over last summer. Got a my p28 chipped from Phearable.net with a basemap for my setup. t3/t04e 50 trim, ramhorn, RC 550s, and a little bit more painting.

well i barely drove the car last year just up town only put 200 miles on it and it wasnt very fast and on a really safe (timing retarded a lot) tune. Well it didnt blow up so my buddy here was helping me pull the d swap and I sold it. Only raced on a 1st gen dsm awd with a 50 trim on 17 lbs on a basemap and he only got me by 2 cars. I might post it up here. its crappy camera work though Also my 99-00 front end conversion

Ok so here is my new BLOX Throttle Position Sensor TPS. I broke my tps when trying to put the trans back on the engine by myself and knocked the b16 into my toolbox. I didnnt have time to go to a junk yard and grab one so i just bought the BLOX TPS.

Some pics of the PLM Top Mount Turbo Manifold and downpipe. ok well the downpipe is 3" but the flange is a 2.5" and my gt30 has a 3" gt flange so I have already ordered a true 3" and im going to just cut the old out and weld on the 3". Also this topmount doesnt line up right. the intake side of the turbos housing hits on the manifold itselfjust a little bit. might be able to fit it though. Just kinda half assed it together to see how it will look.

A little bit of what I was Messing with last night. Relocating my fuse box into my glove box to help clean up the bay. I still need to get some wire and a battery box to relocate my battery too. Didnt have time today though somethings wrong with my integra the battery isnt charging and its a brand new battery so im pretty sure the alternator is junk. Got some new parts today. Mishimoto radiator, slim fan and hose kit. unfortunately i have to cut the mishimoto radiator up and get a bung welded in for my coolant return. im waitin to do that when i get the right flange for the downpipe and get the turbo and manifold mounted so i know exactlly where the fittings should go and get my oil return in the pan, coolant return in the radiator, and downpipe all welded at once.
