Loud valves k20a3
Recently purchased a 2002 RSX with higher miles but the price was right. It has around 160,000 thousand miles on it. The engine runs fine just that valves were a little noisy, after adjusting them twice I notice no difference in sound. Could it be that they are that worn that even with adjustment they are still loud?

Pull the valve cover again and inspect the cam lobes, check for cam galling. I'm betting the intake cam lobes are pitted out. Also make sure you are running 5w-30 and not 5w-20 oil.

Honda changed the oil weight requirements on all the newer K-series engines from 5w-20 to 5w-30. 5w-20 is mostly for fuel economy purposes, it does little to actually help protect engine parts. People who have ran 5w-30 have had less issues with the cam galling problem because it's a little bit thicker oil.
