Re: New trends for the Honda scene 2012/2013
Gee where to begin.....
Oversized turbos on stock engines, wheels bigger than 8in wide and +20 offset, sticker bombed lips, wink mirrors, the whole thing with the CL posts (lol so dead on!), punk *** teenagers who think they know everything about Hondas and don't know ****, wire tucks, bad companys selling cheap parts, H22/23 swaps in anything other than an Accord, reear window visors on civic coupes, hood propping for no good reason, wannbe Audi headlights, HID bulbs in non-projector beam headlights. Ha, I'm sure there are lots of things I forgot.
I haven't seen too much movement in the B series development except for things like Password JDM or Skunk2 dress up parts. Honda has somewhat strayed from the simple idology and there cars havent really been too tuner friendly. I applaud the K24 iVTEC in the new Si but the body styling is WAYYYYY off. I would love to see that engine in an 8th gen (I test drove one...IT HAS TORQUE!!!. Hopefully the new Acura IPX or wharever will be a hit, since most of use wont be able to afford a new NSX.

Honda has DEFINATELY strayed from the glory days of 92-01. Remember the ITR, S2000, civics had DOHC & independent rear suspension now we got bullshit torsion bar like old tercels. cars are minivan status tall, and the new civics are ugly and look like small camrys. I wish honda jumped on the new competition (hyundai has velostor & genisiscoupe both turbo). toyota has the FT-86 VW has GTI. and we got the CRZ.
*death to all honda thieves btw lol

and by glory days i mean in manufacturing, engineering, cost, and bulletproof reliability. (not in tuning) i dont miss the wings, tips, bodykits ala fast and the furious. i like the way tuning is now alot better. i had experience w the 01-05 civic and they werent exactly reliable.
and to the dude restoring the EF, good luck we need more ppl like you!

I could care less what the trends are/were/will be. I've always kept my cars OEM clean looking. I like optional parts, parts from other trims/models that fit on the car. A performing drop (not slammed) nice wheels (not oversized) with really good tires.
I'm all for motor swaps if done correctly. You can have a 100% OEM car thats a beast just by staying within the honda/acura family. Currently my Civic is just a daily and will never see mods, but within the next 2 years I plan on picking up an S2K, or ITR and it will be done tastefully just as all my other cars were done.

I just wanna see more people into it, I'm not sure it will ever be what it was in the late 90s-2005 or so. At least where I live, I don't see a whole lot people still in to it. Then again, maybe the nice cars just stay in the garage so they won't be stolen. Even with all the lame stuff that came with it, there used to be a cool culture to go along with it.

I'd like to see just all the scenes just fall off and watch people build their cars for the way they want them and not to please everyone else taste. Yeah some people have some terrible taste but hey who am I and what will flaming change the way they do it. But personaly i like functional over everything instead of look at my 185's on a 9 inch wheel.

I would like to see more unity in the honda culture..its like every man for themselves smh..other car cultures both domestic and import are more unified..the honda scene is distrustful and paranoid, although with good reason, but I'm sure there's a good amount of us who wholeheartedly enjoy this scene regardless and feel distanced from our peers..

Being almost 42, I've been through several "changes" in this hobby. Generation gap is the biggest obstacle between new styles and old. Each set of new modifiers thinks that their particular style is the one to end it all. I'm now the old man looking at what younger people are doing these days and saying "the hell are you doing?" just like I know was done to me in the 1980s when I was the younger person. You don't have to like everything, but you might as well accept whatever comes because it's going to come anyway and you'll just be miserable while it happens.

More J-swaps....I want to see more aftermarket companies involved making parts for them...I would like more selection for the buggy instead of having to one-off everything.

STUFF THAT HAS TO GO
-Poke, Nothing wrong with fitment or helladerp but poke is ugly.
-Trying too hard to be different or building the car for the sake to be different.
-Sportmaxx 002's lol.
-Driving around with yellow high beams.
-Sticker bombing
-Audi style head lights with LED's on them. What happens when you pull up to an R8?
-All the "hatin'"

I snipped your message into a quote which should be stickied on the forum homepage of Honda-Tech.
