Default Car battery keeps dying

Hey H-t, my car battery keeps dying. Idk what the problem is. My car is a 97 civic hatch dx. I left it in the garage for 2 weeks without driving it but a week ago I turned on the car and it was fine. Then I went to turn it on today and battery died. I then jumped it and it was fine. Left it on for about 20 minutes. I did drive it around. But then when I turned off the engine and try turning it back on battery died and I sopped touching it and now posting this. Anyone know what the problem is? Am I not leaving the car on(after jumping) long enough? Is it the alternator? or Starter? or Battery. HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

alternator or battery. most likely battery isn't holding a charge considering the car stays running after it's boosted

An easy way to check if your alternator is putting out you can use a voltmeter to test the battery while the car is running. If its working properly it should be putting out a voltage anywhere from 13-14 volts. Chances are your battery isnt taking a charge because its bad. you can take it to your local parts retailer and they will check how many cranking amps it has to determine if you need a new battery or not.

Its most likely your battery has met the end of its life. I had one where it was about 4.5 years old and it had just barely enough juice to roll the engine once, so I had to constantly use the booster box I had in the garage. Even had the parts store charge it to no avail. Best bet is to get it tested at the parts store, and buy a new one if it fails. If the battery checks out good, then I would begin looking for some sort of parasitic drain or a short somewhere.
