Default Speed Sensor? Speedometer?

I have a 89 honda crx si stock.
Ok I replace my clutch over the weekend. When I drop the transmission down I forgot to unhook the speed sensor (the plug that’s hooked on to the Transmission)

So everything is put back together. But when im driving the Speedometer doesn’t work? So I don’t know how fast I am going?

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? Im thinking I need to replace the speed sensor but im not sure? Any information is greatly appreciated.

do u mean if i check to make sure if the sensor was plug onto the transmission? yes numerous of time.

what i havent checked was to make sure that the sensor is plug onto the back of the cluster? does that make any sense? lol

these cars dont have a sensor on the tranny, its cable. if the cables pulld out it wont turn. the cable hooks to a sensor behind the gauge cluster. check the cable at the tranny first. easier then taking out the cluster.

When you disconnect the cable from the transmission, it is only a small wire clipthat holds it into the gear drive that is bolted into the tranny.
After you have it disconnected, you can spin the wire inside the cable and the needle on your speedo should move.

I've already checked the cable thats hooked onto the tranny. i've unpluged it and repluged it back but it didnt work? so i should probably remove the cluster and check the back of it?

Remove the retaining clip.
Pull cable out of gear drive.

Cable is like the brake line on a bicycle, your emergency brake, your throttle cable, or clutch cable.
The black part you can see in the pic is the cable sheath. Inside of that is the actual cable.
After you disconnect the cable from the gear drive, you can spin the cable.

From other posts -

The cable inside the sheath.

How the gear drive mounts to the tranny:

Speed pulser test.
Also shows the speedo cable hooking up to the back of the cluster.

No, you can do that so you can lube it/clean it if need be... unless you have a sprung part, burrs, or something that would destroy anything.

ok so yesterday when i got home i pulled the speedsenor off of the transmission. took the cluster out and pulled off the plug thats plugged into the cluster.

I replugged the senor back onto the transmission and also made sure that the cable was sticking out of the plug before plugging it back on the cluster.

but speedometer still didnt work?

is there a special way to plug the speedsensor into the tranny?

Really? so you took it apart and put it back together and it still doesn't work.
AMAZING! WHAT A SHOCKER!
You did ZERO testing with everything apart and you didn't replace any parts.
Why would it be any different when you put it back together?

You don't follow directions very well so I'm wondering what the point is to even try helping you.
First, there isn't a speed sensor on the transmission.
I have no idea why you removed it from the transmission anyway.

Remove cable from gear drive.
Spin cable and watch speedo for movement.

the reason why the speedomoeter is not working is because when we drop the transmission we forgot to unhook the plug thats connected to the transmission. so when we drop the tranny the plug was stuck onto the tranny.

your right.. i dont follow direction well. for one im just trying to get this done myself instead of taking it to a shop. im no mechanic. and its also hard to do something when your not sure what your referring to...

Remove cable from gear drive. <== where is that located?
Spin cable and watch speedo for movement. <= which cable do i spin? where can i see the speedo movement?

sorry

Pull cable out of transmission. Spin cable by hand. Look for speedo movement, well on the speedo

Does your computer not show pictures?
Do the words show up on your screen?

Covered all this.
Maybe covered it twice or more!

The speedo needle should move when you spin the cable by hand.
Make sure you have the cable pressed into the sheath properly before spinning.
If you don't know what the cable or the sheath is, then look at the pictures in this post.

I will be looking on the internet for 3D pictures (hope you have 3D glasses) and a pop-up repair manual. Not sure I will find one, but I can't think of anything else to help you.
Regardless if you are a mechanic or not, you have already done more difficult tasks so far.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
