A Malaysian JDM B18C GSR or Type SI...
I'm a long time troller and finally managed to own my first ever JDM Honda Integra DC2 GSR. It has been a proud almost 3 years now.
I've incuded a pic. It's changed since then but i don't have any new pics from my iphone just yet. Unfortunately it came to me looking like a Type R replica, but i couldn't resist being rice, after all i eat it 7 days a week...
It came to me fairly stock and i've proceeded to add parts in stages, here's the breakdown:
Whale ***** intake
NGK plug wires
Ported and polish head
Toda flywheel
Exedy 3 puck clutch
Mugen 4-1 extractor
Full 2.5 inch exhaust de-catted
All tuned with an Apex'i Power FC made a grand total of 168 whp on stock GSR cams running rich (around 12.3 afr, no scanner for the chart).
Recently i added:
Skunk 2 intake manifold
70mm throttlebody
Cam gears (advance 2 intake side and retard 4 on the exhaust side)
Lightened crank pulley
4.785 final drive on to a non LSD S80 gearbox (Inconsequential to the dyno i know)
Helical Type R LSD on to my now LSD S80 gearbox :D (Inconsequential to the dyno i know)
Again tuned with my Power FC. I haven't taken it to the dyno just yet. Will hope to do so this weekend.
Now aside from just sharing i was wondering whether i would be able to hit 180whp or am i being overly optimistic?
Cliff's? I think it can. I think it can. I think it can.

Thanks guys. Will post more pics eventually. But any gurus wanna chime in?
The lip is a C-west lip. I had it half painted, looks pretty good now. Will attempt some photos later.
Terima kasih indeed.

Epic failure. I managed to get more torque at the expense of 1 horsepower. My teg r teh sux.
For referrence of a stupendous fail the new graph is the red one not the blue one.
Oh and before i forget more pics from my iphone my 17 year old POS will be up eventually. Will attach a video of the dyno run, special prizes for those who spot the leaky valve or burnt piston ring w000t!

Nope. It came with the four bug eye lights like all integras from 1993. Somewhere along the line someone put the JDM conversion on and it ended up going from Aztec green to CW.
All of a sudden the response i just wrote above, has no question to respond to... Strange.

z3r0, would you be able to check around to a couple of import yards and please let me know what a stock JDM ITR half cut sells for and what year for that price. I may be sending a container late this year to KL depending on going prices, thanks if you have time, I just need a couple of estimates from a couple of different sources.

Duane, the market price for JDM ITR half cuts run anywhere from 14k to 16k Malaysian Ringgit, depending on 96 or 98 spec. Above 98 spec is the same price but are incredibly rare here. Same for EK9 half cuts. K20A type r engines run around 22k Malaysian Ringgit. Can't you get them easier in Japan? After all, that is where we get our parts from.
A friend of mine always tries to get parts shipped in via container by winning yahoo auctions. The prices here are all jacked up because of the import duties on the half cuts.
It may be better to get half cuts from the US and ship them to Malaysia, that way people here will have more options in terms of engines. Be it H22A with a manual transmission or an RSX S k20A.
An easy way to find half cuts check out www.mudah.my, it would be a better gauge because the moment i ask the price goes up and i have to negotiate to get the prices cheaper. Capitalism lives in car parts here.

No, I meant I want to ship to Malaysia, not to Japan, sorry about that. The last time I was there, the exchange rate to the US $ was about 3.4 to 1. Thanks for the info.

Yes Sir, I do have a contact there but he is dragging his feet so I will need a standby in case my friend falls through. The last I heard, he wasnt doing so well, I guess the economy is not doing well in MY also??? Do you have any options that are honest and fair to be on standby. I should be coming to Sunway area in Jan. I would like to be in contact with someone now please but I need to eliminate any middleman please. I could hook you up if its you, if not, I can give you a finders fee, but ultimetly, I need to sell direct to a distributor who already knows how to import and can handle the paperwork and has some capitol to spend up front please. The most important, a list of what cars with what engine are needed. Also the way I do halfcuts is much better than the way I have ever seen. I pre-prep the engine for removal with minumal work on the other end. This was by design for the States but may not be needed for MY since labor is lower there.
To be honest and fair from my end, as everybody should know, the Yen is very strong making my Dollar very weak, I know the RM is weaker too so doing business right now in Japan will not yield much of a profit, just so everyone knows. I am down 15 to 25% depending on how you look at the exchange rate. A couple of years ago, profit margin was 40%, now its squat since the economy is weak on both ends.
Are you in the Sunway area?

Re: A Malaysian JDM B18C GSR or Type SI...
I live relatively close to the Sunway area, it's not far from my place.
I wish i could help you out in terms of the business aspect but i work in advertising and haven't the foggiest idea how to start but, i am close friends with my mechanic and he does have the appropriate contacts to get this off the ground for you. His compensation will probably come from his half cut friends themselves rather than being a middleman for you. But who knows how that will all pan out.
As far as a list of required parts/half cuts it may be better for you to speak direct to my mech and his half cut supplier they are like this (my index and middle finger and crossed). Malaysians have a proclivity towards B series engines, turbo charged Mitsu engines (4g63, 6a12tt and 4g93t, both CA and CK chasis), Mivec engines (CK model 4g92 Mivec and FTO 2.0L Mivec). But again this is just speculation. I think there is a market for H22As with manual trannies, Toyota 4ag engines are popular especially the 20 valve ones, Toyota 3sgte and Toyota 1jz engines.
The economy in Malaysia is going pretty good actually. But we do have an upcoming issue, the gov't is planning to halt the import of half cuts and spares sometime in 2011, i figure anywhere in June, but i don't see it happening since our local cars rely heavily on Mitsubishi parts.
In terms of margins, it is a totally different situation post '08. As i understand it you want someone to buy your container load lock, stock and barrel? That being so, again it would come down to the negotiation process.
BTW Sunway doesn't have many half cut shops, they mostly get their stuff from Mun Lee, which is the contact i spoke before. There are other half cut shops around but i'm not too sure who owns them.
I hope this post helps, i might be rambling though i can't detect any. :S
