Repairing "Honda Cancer?"
Does anyone have a good write up on how to repair the problem area's over the rear fenders that plauges most of us? Or where I can buy entire OEM rear quarter panels?
Mine have rust holes all the way through about the size of a quarter now, and I want to fix them before it gets really bad.

I personally wouldn't replace the whole panel..I would just get some scrap steel sheet metal, and have the metal welded into the holes. you'll have to grind out alot of the area. for small holes cut a 2"x2" square, anything bigger will require a larger square.
you'll follow all that by using filler to shape the panel.
get a spray bottle and put motor oil into it, spray all the undercarriage and inner quarter panels, spray every where salt will touch

best way to get rid of rust is TO CUT IT OUT. you dont want to take the risk of missing any when you try to grind it out and what not. if its around the wheel arches like it usually is on hondas some places now sell what i can half a 1/4 panel.
or you can go to a pick a part and have them cut you a out a 1/4 panel just make sure its not bad and have them cut it bigger then you need. then cut out your old rusty area then cut out of the newer 1/4 a piece then weld or panel glue the new piece in

Re: Repairing "Honda Cancer?"
fixmyrust.com sells replacement rear wheel arches/fenders that are weld in. Cost me 100$ shipped for both sides, arrived less than a week later in a black e-coat. They'll be welded in as soon as I get a chance but they are in good shape and seem fairly durable.
Also a good writeup:

Thanks guys. Im more than capable to cut and weld, but I was not to sure with shaping the area thats rusted on the rear 1/4 because its right where the wheel arch flares out on the EJ1. Im thinking pre fabbed replacement is the way Im going to go. Thanks.

pre fabbed replacement is the way to go imo, its more $, but less headaches.

^^^ yes.
3M glue has proven to be as strong if not stronger then a weld. Depending who welds. But I do know that if you start to pull two pieces of sheet metal apart that have been glued, the sheet metal will rip.
Also you never can get rid of rust, if you weld in a new panel, the opposite side of the panel (which is between the inner and outer fender) paint or whatever will flake off to bare metal and be very very prone to rusting. Nothing you can really do about that.

Re: Repairing "Honda Cancer?"
I bought brand new left and right quarter panels directly from Honda for my 1994 Civic Coupe. Also bought brand new door skins as well. I feel that when you repair rust areas, it comes back... which is why I chose to completely start with new panels.
