Default Another OBX Twin Loop Muffler review

Here is my review on a 97 Civic LX all stock (engine stuff). No other H/I/E mods. Since most of the past question is about sound,that's what I will over. Evil Hx coupe already offered a sound clip. Search for it if you want to hear it.

0 = stock
10 = Rice boy loud

With windows up

0 - at idle
30 - when you row the gears in city traffic. It's like any other performance exhaust, but just a bit quiet.
5 - when you are cruising in any gear without engine load in city and hwy speed.
10 - when you there is engine load in city and hwy speed.

Of course, with the windows down there will be more noise. Overall, it's a good exhaust that give you some sound. It's not completly quiet so don't get false expectations. With engine load in any situation, it reminds you that you got a "performance" attention getting exhaust. However, it is quiet enough that your mom will never notice "what did you do to your car." The exhaust does not drown everything out. I can still hear the engine, and road noise. In traffice situations on the hwy, you could barely hear the exhaust because there'sso much noise from the outside. So if you want attention, this is not for you. If you want a good quiet muffler with some sound when you gun it, it is it. In past posts, some question the quality of OBX. I hope it holds up, and still muff the sounds for years to come.

Note: This is NOT exactly a Mugen copy. (Correct me if I'm wrong), OBX Universal is unversal - same design fit all cars. The loop is a bit different from Mugen. One hangers is on the muffler, one is on the loop pipe. On my car, there was almost no clearance on the top of the muffler. The shop guy normally would like to go a little bit higher, but can't. It still looks good (90%), just not 100%.

Good to hear that you got it. Not trying to hijack or anything, but here's my review for the people that need pictures.

Here is my 300 mile review.

I do feel the exhaust is getting louder. It now almost as loud as my old magnaflow during city driving. I based on my experience that the exhaust is louder than the engine in all city driving situations. However, I do still think the at hwy speed, it's almost unnoticeable.

Overall satisfaction is now 75%. Note. It's not a bad mufler. It's that I had very high (maybe unreal for the price) expectations for this OBX.

Question about the OBX twin loop for those of you who own one. After a while did it start to rattle? Mine was fine for about two weeks, and then the muffler started to make this awful sound when i let off the gas at about 3-4 rpms.
If no rattle, is your exhaust resonated? I'm thinking this might have something to do with it because my exhaust is not resonated.

Is it true that the OBX gets louder after a while?

I's easy man, people have been fitting them for years on hatches. Twin loops are quiet in general, it's just that some people don't have proper cats or resonators earlier in their exhaust that they are loud at all

my old 96 Civic CX hatch

I don't have any dyno's, but pretty sure gains are the same as any high flow muffler, about 4-6hp at the wheels

Oh good stuff...

My Ej8 is a daily...and highway drone is annoying on my current exhaust so I was looking into these just the other day.

Maybe if the car was turbo'd, but to a N/A Honda, I'd say 2whp or most likely less.

To bring a dead thread back if it is.. didn't look, i put one of these on my car and didn't like the note.. so i cut off the tip and bought a resonated muffler tip that looks better than the one it comes with the car is super quiet.. but after beating on it for a few 5months or so its getting louder.. but still decent.
