Y80 tranny question

Default Y80 tranny question

I have a B-series tranny and the label says Y80, how do can I tell if it's a Y80 and if it has LSD and it also it a hydro tranny just in case some1 wanted to be a smart *** :-D!

If it's LSD the diff where the axles go will b hollow and u can c right thru it, a hydro tranny has a short arm coming out of the bell housing and it will move side to side with what looks like a ball should fit in the end of the arm, as far as being a Y80 u'll have to trust the tag.

Also when I spin the half shaft and the broking axle in the same direction they turn or if I hold one side and spin the other one will turn. Do anyone understand what I'm saying? I can't put this in better terms right now.

I know what ur saying but what does that have to do with anything?? All trannys will do that, unless the diff is buster.

U won't know what?? What r u going to find out by using it? If it's non-lsd it will have a bar thru the diff and u can c it if u look thru the axle holes and if it's hollow it is LSD.

ya that tranny sticker code is bullshit. has me confused because i dont know if i have a gsr or ls tranny. but im thinkin its an ls. honda put y80 on so many different ones, but the only true way to tell is do what these guys are telling u. and is it an aftermarket lsd installed in it? we need to know these details to answer the question right.
