There really shouldn't be a difference for map and maf based calibrations. All that means is that the ecu relys on either the map sensor or maf sensor to provide the information required for proper fueling.

When I asked my tuner to give me a conservative tune for engine safety and longevity he told me that he diagrees with that school of thought and said to me that a car is either "tuned" or "not tuned". He said that the difference between running extremely rich at a 10 to 1 a/f ratio and an extremely lean a/f of 14 to 1 would only be around 5 percent different.

I said I wasn't worried about extracting every ounce of hp out of the motor so tune it rich and he said don't worry it wouldn't have that much more power if I tuned it lean.

So ivtec take some datalogs and see what your a/f's are. If you have an N/A tune the cam tables and vtec tables on the maf/map calibrations should be about the same if not exactly the same so I would find it hard to believe that one was sluggish and one was good.

I've posted this before; this video from Haltech shows that a/f doesn't change hp as much as ignition timing on a K20.

Cliff notes:

a/f between 11.5 and 13 there is less than 1 whp difference

2 degrees of timing 4-5% whp across the board

trust me, there was a considerable difference in bottom end power.

dont they make a kpro for the k24 motors? If so that would be the better choice.

So I swtiched my flash from the Injen CAI MAP flash to the MAF flash. Just taking off in 1st gear hitting the gas to release the clutch the car revs totally different. I'm going to give it till mid week on this flash if I don't like it I may have to go back to my previous flash.

I'm not surprised, I don't know many vehicles who have 100% accurate tach's anyway.

Well after running the Injen CAI w. race header MAF map for almost 48 hours I'm getting used to it a little better. It deff has less lag down low than the MAP map I used before.

haha ok man relax....Well it shouldn't be different. It's just the ECU relying on different sensors to provide the information for fueling. And Hondata and tuners say it's easier to make a good tune when using the MAP sensor, but maybe that's for just when tuning for forced induction.....I dunno

forced induction requires a map tune for the best results.
apparently you havent driven with fp on a maf and map tune.
theres a considerable difference.

so why wouldn't Honda do this from the factory? does it sacrifice some reliability? (talking 200K miles compaired to 250-300+)
