Just a word of advice for those who take their cars for warranty work. If your car is at the dealer for warranty work, and they want you to take it and drive it until the parts arrive, refuse. Your vehicles warranty is extended by as many days as it sits at the dealer. Additionally, every day your car spends at the dealer counts toward a total tally for your states lemon law, for example if you car is at the dealer 10 days and your state says that a vehicle is deemed a lemon if it accumulates 30 days, you merely have to accumulate 20 more.

There's RX-8s that have been sitting at my dealership for almost a month just waiting for an engine to arrive.

Where do you work? I had my car at Gillman for some tranny work. It was an experience, believe me. (they didn't quite QA my car, had to fix some issues on my own) They fixed my issues a week later. Can't say I'm impressed... but they left an impression, nevertheless.

It's very brief though....only lasts for the split second that the rpms jump to 2grand during start-up and instantly stops as soon as the rpms drop down to normal cold idle.

man i don't know about yours.. but mine is easily duplicated now that it's cold out. i am going to take it in and request that it sits for a couple hours, and that i be there when they start it. if all else fails, i have youtube videos of it that i can play over and over on my phone til their ears bleed!
i have actually found that if you let it crank a few times, then turn the key to ON again, it won't happen.
