Will the intake from a 98-02 accord fit a 2001 civic ex?

I just bought the car and it has a cheap aftermarket cold air intake on it. I'm getting pretty poor gas mileage and think part of it may be the aftermarket intake. I thought switching back to an OEM intake may help. My wife is using it as a commuter car, so I'm more interested in efficiency than performance or throaty sound.

I'm not getting a check engine light and so far the only aftermarket parts I see is the intake.

If there are other suggestions of things to check regarding MPG, I'm open to suggestions. I've yet to try and measure MPG, but will (we've only had the car a few days). I'm guessing it is getting below 30 MPG and is rated around 35-38 HWY.

I was wrong about the air intake, upon further inspection it is an AEM and not the ebay cheapy. Even though I'm not getting a CEL, I'm still going to take it by Autozone and get the codes checked.

You ask about an accord intake, when you already have an intake installed?
Ans then you start talking about mpg.

I like my OEM airbox with k&n drop in filter.

I was wanting to know if the OEM accord intake would fit on the civic because I wanted to switch back to an OEM intake. So, swap the AEM that's on there now, for an OEM.

I probably asked too many questions in that thread (given my thread title). My primary goal is to increase fuel efficiency, because I don't think I'm getting all the MPG I could.

First, what kind of traffic are you driving in?

How are you driving? Granny Goodwin, or Mario Andretti?

Have you checked to see how clean the air filter is?

How about those spark plugs?

Anyway.. This Link is for a '99 Accord 2dr LX throttle body. This one is the '99 Accord V6 throttle body. And, finally, this link is for a 2001 EX throttle body.

See the difference?

I feel like this has little to do with the intake and more to do with 1) driving habits 2) basic tune up. Check your plugs, wires, and o2 sensor to start.

Sorry , I didn't reply sooner, busy couple of days.

I don't have the Accord intake, I saw one on eBay and wondered if it would fit. My motivation behind the changing intake was based off a desire for increased fuel efficiency. I will be changing the plugs, cleaning the air filter, and changing the oil this coming weekend (I've only had the car about a week and half). As far as driving habits, I have a heavy foot, my wife not as much. It is driven about 2/3 HWY and 1/3 City. From the couple of days I drove it last week I think it is getting pretty close to 30 MPG and I'd like to pull more out of it.

How do I check the O2 sensor? Shouldn't I get a CEL if there is a problem? Do I need to just check voltage across the terminals?

Oh I thought you already had the accord one...Why wouldn't you just look into stock civic intakes then? Anyways, an intake should increase gas mileage. 30mpg's alone is pretty decent. I thought you were talking low 20mpg's. Don't waste money on another intake. The aftermarket one on there should be improving it depending on the filters condition. Just do a tune up like you mentioned.

Getting 30mpg is pretty good.......

Why not do a full tune up before trying to replace parts that are working?
