Definitely. The oil would inhibit the spark plug(s) from functioning properly.

an oil soaked spark plug will definitely affect getting your engine started & performance. This will give you a CEL code regarding "A MISFIRE". Change all your spark plugs & dont forget to change your VALVE COVER GASKET KIT. That would definitely solve your problem. always remember to keep your car on the right specifications. Good luck on the fix!

It is really straight forward.
-get yourself a valve cover gasket kit, -pull the spark plug wires off of the spark plugs - remove your valve cover (a few 10mm nuts) - remove and replace the rubber grommets at the top of the spark plug tubes - remove and replace the seal around the edge of your valve cover, cleaning the mating surfaces - apply a small amount of gasket maker(or "Honda-Bond") to the "corners" on either side of the cam bump on the valve cover - put the valve cover back on - remove and replace the grommets around the studs that are coming through the valve cover - torque the valve cover to spec, replace lug wires, make sure you put the ground back and you're good to go. If you plan on doing some regular maintenance on your car you should get a manual for it. |

If you have a rubber gasket don't put sealant on it because the rubber ones are made to mold into the dip thing. If you put sealant on the gasket will be pushed up. Also make sure the area where the gasket goes is clean too.

i have the same problem with my 91 CRX. except oil is only leakin on the tips of the spark plugs, not the valve itself, so it cant be the gasket covers for me. im thinkin piston rings. my car has the same symptoms when trying to start and it just started happening after i changed my oil, so i upped the viscosity and oil is still floodin the tips. checked the fuel injectors, fuel line, spark plugs are working fine, and even thought it was my air filter but no. so imma check the rings tomorrow and see if thats the problem.. any thing i might have missed?

i had the same issue on my b16, turns out the previous owner thought it was a good idea to not put the grommets on the underside of the vc for the spark tubes, in my case it ran fine just freaked me out with oil half way up the tubes
