I have installed three different D16A SOHC VTEC ngine at my shop, so STFU with all of this "it doesn't exist" crap, okay?

...and quoting Wikipedia of all "sources" just shows how incredibly nieve you are. i could literally go on that Wiki page right now and edit it. It's all crap. Some of it's true, but then there are other things that are complete horsepoop.

From what I've seen the D16A VTEC looks to be most like the 1996-1998 D16Y8 engine. The three I've seen all had the D16Y8-looking larger plenum intake manifolds, single plug distributor, etc.

I'm not asking for proof, but can the OP who has one post some pics? I'd like to see if it's more like the OBD2 D16Y8, or the OBD1 D16Z6.

I honestly don't care if some guy on the internet doesn't believe me. I'm 30 years old, have been working at the same Honda/Acura shop for 9 years now, have worked with/driven/modified/ hondas since 1995 so I don't care if some guy citing Wikipedia wants to argue with me. I think if you know me you'd know I'm not one to BS for the sake of being internet cool/smart.

One thing is for sure when it comes to Honda engines:

You can rarely ever say with 100% certainty that an engine does/doesn't exist unless you've seen it with your own two eyes. I have seen numerous times where someone posts about his own "B18C6" only to have 10 guys e-jump him saying he's lying, etc. and even say "you mean B18C5, right?" when in fact the C6 is a real engine.

There were some really obscure engines in Europe, and in other parts of the world besides Japan. There were carb'd D series engines in 1995 in Japan, there was a Honda engine in a Rover sport utility in the late 80's, etc. etc.

Before anyone tries to jump someone's crap for posting about an engine try doing more research, and for God's sake never cite Wiki of all places. Yikes.

this is for all you who says there's no such thing as a D16A SOHC VTEC

remember this didnt come to the USDM, its JDM/EDM/Possibly CANADIAN because it came out of a canadian EJ1 (eg coupe)

and this is for you Jimster480

the motor is currently in my garage, in a basket. its going to be a replacement for my blown d16y8, running obd-2 just by switching IM,alt, dist, etc... with no knock sensor

D16A Head

D16A STAMP

P08-5 stamp

YES ITS VTEC

NOTICE THE VTEC SOLONIOD MOUNTS DIFFERENTLY

P28 STAMP ON REAR BOTTOM BLOCK

internals

another view

vtec lobe, bad pics

how it sits today untill next week

i heard that the JDM D16A is 3 more hp powerful than the D16Y8, so it might be 130hp and around 105-108 t/q. not sure but thats the info i need to be correct on. it could be a SOHC ZC
