Yes, you need to drop the tank to replace the crx fuel pump. I was going to do it myself but decided to let my performance shop do it.

I saw that on some dudes 80's model Firebird. Square hole cut and peeled back right above the fuel pump. **** was funny. No offense to any hispanics on here, but i think it was a mexican who had owned it before, and i think they did it. I couldn't help but laugh.

yes you have to drop the tank. its not that hard. if you search I'm sure you will be able to find a how to with pics. I just changed my fuel pump and it should only take an hour at most. Make sure to don't loose any washers. I changed my fuel pump in a poor lighted garage and didn't see a washer and ended up having to drop the tank twice do to fuel leakage. gl
save your money do it your self. GL

To make things a little easier on you, try and have as little gas in the tank as possible. You could also drain the tank, but then it could get messy and the gas fumes are dangerous for you, not too mention a fire hazard.

disconnect the battery terminals, lift the car and secure it on jackstands, use a 12mm socket and slowly begin to remove the tank straps(id empty the tank with the drain plug before working with such a heavy tank) drop the gas tank, remove the 10mm bolts ontop that secure the pump assembly and pull out slowly. Remove the terminals etc, installation is reverse of removal.

dont drop the gas tank all the way down, and have it secure with a jack. otherwise you'll rip a fuel line.

You may want to replace the wiring to your fuel pump while you are in there. The car is at least over 18 years old.

We replaced the wiring from the fuel pump itself to the cover for the pump, and all of the wiring that leads to the plug in the middle of where the back seat is on an EF.

id also wire up a fuel pump cutoff switch too, also upgrade to a higher lph fuel pump. theyre cheaper than oem. could possible help with performance, but i didnt feel a gain on my crx with a 190 lph walbro fuel pump. you need a built motor to feel any difference. and it doesnt really kill fuel, just never run it low period!

We ran a Walbro 255lph with our 350whp turbo LS setup, and when we went back in to change the pump again(2nd Walbro, for maintenance) I had noticed that the insulation for the ground wires were seperating from the copper. We upgraded it to 12 guage wire and ran a dash switch for the fuel pump alone.

Honda fuel pumps almost never fail. I've done a grand total of two of them in the past 3 years. I've replaced over 100 main relays in the same timeframe.

clogged fuel lines, clogged strainer, clogged fuel filter glogged car. id first replace the main components such as main fuel relay(they can fail even if its new), fuel lines(check for rips, and if you did drop the gas tank, chances are you tore up a fuel line) and make sure your fuel filter is replaced. look to see if your car is receiving fuel by removing the fuel line and quickly priming the car with a rag....etc. make sure you hear the fuel pump prime in acc mode, and hear for the main fuel relay click.
