Icon2 Why does my car die?

hey guys i'm having problems with my car mysteriously shutting down for no reason after i drive it for a while it doesn't happen all the time but when it does it does it everytime i push my clutch in so i can stop that's the only time it happens i'll have my clutch in and i'll apply the brakes and the car shuts off when i turn it on it goes for a while then i go to stop again and the car completely shuts off, also it sometimes feels like my car has no power at all and when i accelerate it feels like it's about to die

can anyone offer some advice i was thinking maybe a bad battery or alternator but i'm not sure.

So I'll be the first to ask, what have you had done to your car recently? This problem didn't just randomly start, right?

Any CEL codes?

When was the last basic tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)?

Have you tried cleaning the IACV?

The car is a 2000 Civic DX hatch with a D16Y7 motor i haven't done anything to it it's completely stock i just got it a few months ago. And there is no check engine light it only has 98,000 mi. on it the plugs and wires look brand new and so does everything else. i haven't put it on a scanner yet so i'm not sure about any other codes but i hate that it dies cuz once it starts it does it at every stop sign/light.

It's located on the throttle body. Check here.

Would that more than likely be the problem?

Try cleaning the IACV and go from there. Also inspect the plugs, cap, and rotor for corrosion and wear.

To the OP, did you check your exhaust manifold? Y7 manifolds are known to crack where the primary O2 sensor is, but it should have given you a CEL. My hatch had a similar problem and it was the exhaust manifold that had crack and it made the O2 sensor go bad.

Most probable cause is a dirty IACV....

Or you have some sort of vacuum leak...

I would cheack for vacuum leaks before tearing into anything...

I like to use propane... It doesn't rise, it falls like liquid.

I used an old bbq valve and attached a garden hose to it.

The propane will make the engine want to die...

In your case, have a friend hold the accelerator to 2500rpms and check.

Get the propane everywhere, and do not leave it on for too long.

I hopw you have some common sense.
