No. replace the sender.
If you want to; use some teflon tape on the threads, but the sender is your problem

Any instructions or pics to do this? The manual I got is so vague and not include this procedure in it.
Thanks.

it's very easy once you find a socket to fit the sending unit.

pull the lead wire off, (it can be stubborn so don't give up too soon.) unscrew the sending unit and replace with the new one...

i like to use gray RTV on the threads, but PTFE (teflon) tape will work, the threads are tapered pipe threads-just FYI.

this is easiest to do durring an oil change while the filter is off so that you have easy access.

Get a new Oil Filter
Remove old Oil Filter to gain access and room to move.
3/8" drive 6 point 22mm deep Socket or specialty Oil Sender Socket
3/8" Drive Ratchet. 6 or 9" handle
Disconnect wiring harness
Remove Leaking Oil Pressure Sender Unit

Reverse proceedure
Congratulate yourself

Hi,
Will the oil pour out when removing the send unit? Do I need to do the oil change after that? So teflon is good enough or does it have to be Hondabond type? Where can I get the oil send special socket? What so special about the socket? Is it b/c it has that center slit on the side for the lead?
Thanks.

I would say that a small bit would come leaking out but no flood like pouring out of oil as if you opened the drain plug.

If you are near enough to a oil change then do so, if not simply top the oil off

The parts store should have a socket for the sending unit but i would think simply using a deep socket would work the same way.

I have not done much work on Honda's but I have worked a lot on GM and Ford engines and every oil sending unit I have replaced the original (factory installed one) came with red thread lock on the sending units threads. I don't know if on Honda's you can do this or not

Good luck

I have found the special socket for $3.99 plus 20% off. Guess what? I found it at the store I work at HarborFreight Tools. The item number is 95046. The problem is that, now there's no more leak from my car and I have been driven it all day today. No leak either after or during park. I guess, it's like last time when I change the gasket in my distributor. The leak is probably from the cleaning I did after changing the valve cover gasket. It's been pooling and finally comes down from the engine heat. Never the less, no oil loss at I have been checking and no more drips. I'll be watching it for the next few months.
Here's the link: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95046
Is that the one I can use?
Thanks,
